  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am a fairly new Praise and Worship Song Writer, but many of my songs are catching on quickly (locally and Regionally). I am cutting my first CD even now.

What I would like to know is what make a song speak to your heart to bring you closer to God's?

I ask this mainly because when I write I want the songs to speak to our hearts. When our hearts are in tune with God's will and Spirit, awesome and mighty things happen!

I have one song ready for sample (music) and all 12 songs available in chord form... please ask if you are interested!

A) Lyrics that are centered around
1) God's character: Holiness, Steadfastness, Mercy, Grace
2) Christ's work on Calvary

B) Music that is filled with passion.

Thanks, this helps me greatly! So far, I feel that my music fits your items!

Anyone else? Any thoughts would be very appreciated!

Deep, inspirational and perhaps thought provoking lyrics and not just saying the name of Jesus fifteen times in a row.

I got this from a church in Texas, but I think a praise song should have:

Inspiration
Be moving
Praising
Adoring
Creative
Prayerfully considered

And honestly if it comes from your heart, which is God's heart, then it comes from Him and He will make His presence known.

I'm interested in hearing what you got. I'll PM my email address if you would like.

I think you said it all right there. even if the awesome and mighty thing that happens is only for me, then the song has done it job.

 :groupray: A song that ministers to the total man:spirit soul and body. A song that crys out to God not about God. Check out Jason Upton's album(s). A song that brings me to my knees in worship. A changing song...changes me on how I can lift my voice to God, be it in tears and laughter...Such passion in a song would be David's song of adoration...a man after God's own heart. Blessings to you!

i like to have lyrics that make you think and want to praise Him for all He has done...lyrics that makes my heart yearn for Him...lyrics that allows me to feel His prescene even more.
also, i love for people to be able to freely worship and not just stand or sit there singing just because that's what everyone else is doing...i love to see people moving, singing, clapping, dancing, or whatever they feel they need to do to worship.

hope this helps!

Lyrics that really get to me are those that make me think. Ones that bring me to my knees, are those that make me wonder, how i can help, God's word. The kind of songs that help me understand, and want to help others. that wats i like to get out of p&w songs.

Same thing I always look for -- the heart of God...... something that sings what He's singing....... Jesus said that all he did was what He saw the Father doing.... let's listen to His heart and sing that.....

One Sunday morning, I found myself singing "HERE COMES THE SUN! HERE COMES THE SUN! The dark clouds are passing over and a new day is on its way....." something like that (only sure of the first four words) -- it was the word of the Lord to our church congregation, which has been through a hard experience -- it's OVER..... on another day the Lord might want to proclaim His extreme love for His Bride...... on another day we might be led to sing of His glorious majesty....... if the Spirit is there in that awesome way when the silence is pregnant, it would be just WRONG to start singing "Shout to the Lord" at that time, while at other times it might be just the thing.....

all of that to say...... listen to the Lord, let Him sing through you, and you can't go wrong.......

blessings
