talk: Janet Mefferd radio

music: All the voices in MY head calling Gloria [to Elohim in the Highest!]
Gloria
You're always on the run now
Runnin' after somebody
You've gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down
Before you start to blow it
I think you're headin' for a breakdown
So be careful not to show it
You really don't remember
Was it something that he said?
All the voices in your head calling, Gloria

Gloria
Don't you think you're falling?
If everybody wants you
Why isn't anybody calling?
You don't have to answer
Leave them hanging on the line
Calling Gloria

Gloria
I think they got your number
I think they got the alias
That you've been living under
But you really don't remember
Was it something that they said?
All the voices in your head calling, Gloria
Gloria
How's it gonna go down?
Will you meet him on the main line?
Or will you catch him on the rebound?
Will you marry for the money?
Take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away
Don't believe it's coming back soon
And you really don't remember
Was it something that he said?
All the voices in your head calling, Gloria

Gloria
Don't you think you're falling?
If everybody wants you
Why isn't anybody calling?
You don't have to answer
Leave them hanging on the line
Calling Gloria

Gloria
I think they got your number
I think they got the alias
That you've been living under
But you really don't remember
Was it something that they said?
All the voices in your head calling, Gloria

2 weeks after converting from agnostic, my parents forbade me from reading the Bible, going to Church, meeting with Christian friends or listening to Christian music. I soon lurned to twist whatever they did allow into a personal song/conversation with God.

Just look at the lyrics to "The Rose" and tell me if that is not the greatest UNINTENTIONAL Christian song ever:

"The Rose"

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed. (neither shal He break a bruised reed)
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed. (God's wrath must be appeased by blood, yours or Jesus')
Some say love, it is a hunger,
An endless aching need. (only filled by the Bread of Life, and if you do not have Him, yes "love" is brutal and unsatisfying)
I say love, it is a flower, (the Rose of Sharon)
And you its only seed. (the only begotten Son of God)

It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give,
And the soul afraid of dyin'
That never learns to live. (to Live, you must die, can it be any clearer?)

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows (like the everwinter without Christmas in the first Narnia book, this world sucks)
Lies the seed that with the sun's love (just change that u to an o)
In the spring becomes the rose. (of Sharon)

JR, the madman who often drives home crying while listening to old rock songs which JR thinks are private hymns between me and my Lover, God. After 30 years a Christian, more insane than ever.

Perhaps this thread is aimed at music. I'll perhaps list some music that I listen to later on. But for now I'll talk about theology sources.

I have an ipod devoted to the spoken word only and not to music. Where my music ipod lists playlists of different music styles, this one has various groupings of systematic theology, exegetical preaching, and of course the Word of God itself. All told there are hundreds of entries in my computer i tunes site and perhaps 100 on the ipod at any given time.

A lot of Sproul, Macarthur, Begg, Sinclair Lewis etc. One of my favorites is R.W. Glenn (younger and "cockier" -but very good and straight forward which I appreciate). Lots of stuff by him and many others accessible and downloadable from the Monergism site.

Sunday sermon type lessons all over the place. I enjoy a more "classroom" feel as opposed to Sunday sermons though.

No better theology than in "The Rose" by Bette Midler. First stanza is apologetics, second transitions from apologetics to the Gospel, thirds starts with snactification and ends with glorification and the chied end of man. Echoes of Truth are everywhere, and the Gentiles were not left without prophets, even when the prophets were reluctant and sometimes did not even know of what they spoke.
