  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

jacqS Wow! I'm breathless, Perhaps you should post this on my thread about mums being forced out into the 'paid' workforce...... and just maybe (although I doubt it) some of the powers that be will recognise the value and contribution of our unpaid workforce (sahm&d's) into community life. I know it's a dream, but one can hope, hey!

yeah, think I remember reading somewhere, that the actual monetary value to the community of stay at home mums (or dads too, if thats the case!) is somewhere over $100K a year (dont quote me on that?! )

(hows this, just tried to do a google search to find it and silly american thing comes back and says "Did you mean: value contributed to community by stay at home mom" not only do we get bombarded by microsoft & macca's, but now we're MOM's too - according to lord google!! ;) )

Work was all right.

The girl who did urology is lovely (from England), so that was a nice chatty list.

Reg came and did half the list of the burns cases, then the resident (who's been an acting registrar for the past month) came and covered the rest... Quite good.

Came home, picked up 'puter, and went to mum's. Watched a bit of the Origin, but came home early as B had to clean up...

Tomorrow's a day off!!! :p

hmm...woken up at 4:30 when M's alarm went off - so that he could go for a run before watching the Liverpool/Milan soccer match on tele!! (single girls out there..DO NOT MARRY A SOCCER FAN!! you will be kept up/woken up at ridiculous hours of the night/morning, so that he can watch English/European soccer matches live - coz the other team might win if you tape it and watch it later  )

but now, little Miss S off to school - in her cute little winter skirt (why do they make the skirts shorter than the length of the polo shirts they have to wear?? which means she's tucked the shirt in, and Mum thinks she looks totally daggy, but, hey, she's happy, and what we definitely do not want is an unhappy Miss S!! she has her pommy father's temper!! :holy: ) so, some MORE washing to do this morning, then Mr J off to kinder at 1:00, make a new sleeping bag for S with my lovely new sewing machine, S has netball training tonight, so have to organise dinner in there somewhere
oh..and I'm going to a 'Postie' party at a friends tonight - doubt I'll buy anything, coz I think its all so expensive, but happy to show my support?!

Jac... I needed your advice 3 years ago - I'm getting married to a man who can't miss a soccer game (he tapes them tho, and then in the morning when the news is on has his hands over his ears, singing away to himself so he doesn't hear anything!)...

Today I'm still deciding what I'm doing. Tad depressed over something that's looming, so it's kinda zapped my energy...

Kimmorley might as well jump ship - he handed you guys the match on a platter...:sigh:

I decided to stay in bed and not watch the soccer (very pleased that Liverpool won! ) and I'm getting myself mentally prepared for moving all the stuff in our lounge room back into our 2 newly tiled rooms where it belongs...
