Ooh.... but that was like, two hours ago!

I'm trying to write Bible study materials on 1 Thessalonians. It's slow going.
I should join a bible study.

Do you write it out manuscript style?

I write a full text, if that's what you mean (word processors are my friend).

Partly because I have people who rely on that format; some deaf members of the congregation who get given a copy to read, and my sermons also all go up on my blog, which lets people who miss a week or whatever still read them (in fact I have far more people who read them on my blog than who listen to them in person).

So for those reasons it's more useful to me to do a full text.

How do you like the program?

Also, have you gone over to the visual arts section and posted your work yet?

Visual Arts

It’s an awesome program! I’m still learning, but it’s so easy to work with.

Oh, I didn’t know about that, thanks!

That is great that you are reaching that much of an audience on the blog. How did you get it started?

Are you using the ios, or mac or windows, etc.? Active digitizer, or pen tablet, or just a regular stylus?

You doing manga or some other style?

Hopefully we can get some more artists over there to build a community.

Honestly, because I was kicked out of college and wanted something to do with my brain while I was pregnant.

Or did you mean more technically?

For now I'm just using the Asus Transformer which has Windows 8.1 on it. I was using my desktop with Windows 10, but I had to put it away for a while.

I use Huion 610 Pro for drawing/colouring. The style I draw is anime :) I'm just practicing illustrating for now. I'm not very confident in colouring yet.

Was it hard to build the audience? How did you manage to get kicked out of school?

I have not used Huion yet. I have a couple of old wacom drawing tablets, but one uses the serial interface, so not much use lately! Does the Huion perform well? They are usually a bit cheaper than Wacom and seem to have more options.

Are you going for a cell shading look once you start doing the color?

Was it hard to build the audience?

Not really? I mean, it's built slowly over time, the main thing I did was add the link to my signature in another forum where I'm active (and where that's allowed), and that drove a lot of traffic. I have a link on my profile here but obviously that drives much less traffic.

But I didn't really particularly care about building the audience, so I've just let that happen over time. And it's still not huge, in social media terms, but it's big enough for me to feel that it's worth maintaining.

How did you manage to get kicked out of school?

I fell pregnant. (I was married). And I was very sick, expected to lose the baby, and basically they wouldn't work with me to give me the flexibility I needed. I got this email saying (hang on, I still have it, I'll quote it for you): "The situation is that you are formally and fully on leave from candidature for a period of eighteen months. That means that you are not a student of the Theological School for that period of time and are not eligible to attend the [various formational activities]. (Chapel prayers and eucharist, of course, are public gatherings). ...you cannot be regarded as a student of TCTS."

They didn't even discuss it with me first. Just sent me an email out of the blue, that said something completely different to what I thought the situation was.

Wow, I guess their theology stayed on the academic level, and forgot to go to the human level.

Basically, it was a system designed for blokes; and despite having some years of ordaining women under their belts, they had never thought through how our experience or needs might be different. I was the first pregnant ordination candidate they'd ever had, and they had no policy in place for that.

This is, of course, a common problem with many of our social institutions and structures!
