I was texting with a Christian friend, about the news story with the owner of the NE Patriots. (for those who don't know, he is going to be charged with soliciting prostitution, and the ''spa'' he was visiting was conducting sex trafficking through it) She said ''I don't care if he was using prostitutes, but if he was part of a sex trafficking ring...'' It is interesting how we as a culture, have watered down behaviors to be ''okay'' if there's consent. I find it hard to believe that there honestly are willing women out there in prostitution. They may be consenting, but no girl when she's young says ''I want to be a prostitute!'' It's usually a byproduct of a horrible childhood, and someone who has no self esteem. It's a terrible lifestyle for any man or woman to get involved in. This spa had young women, maybe underage, who were brought over from China, and they weren't allowed to leave the spa, and were sleeping there! It's disgusting. And honestly, if this guy just gets a slap on the wrist, I'm no longer watching any NFL football again. /end of vent

I have three sons and two daughters. Mostly we use their names, when we don’t get them mixed up.

Apparently in my dad's culture it's not unusual to give kids number-names. He's nicknamed my daughter Prima (first daughter). I told him he might as well call her Ultima (last daughter) and be done with it!

A friend of my wife's family had a bunch of kids, and when she was done she actually named the last child "Quits." The child lived up (or down) to his name, and never finished anything.

The tradition of giving children names from their birth order has a very long history. In Rome Quintus or Quinta were popular names for the 5th child. And even in the bible, King David had his affair with Bathsheba - in Hebrew Bat Sheva, literal translation: the 7th daughter.

Have a very busy day ahead. Once I've gone across to set up for our mid-week service this morning, I won't get to draw breath again until about 3:30.

Hmm. Don't see a spot in there for lunch either. Maybe I can throw a piece of fruit in the car to eat on my way from one place to another!

I am beginning the unwinding process of the evening. I have some reading I have to do, and then I get to do some reading that I want to do. All of it is enjoyable, though. I love reading

I am trying to clear my head enough of all the stuff to do with Cardinal Pell's conviction, to focus on other things for a while. It's all anyone's been talking about for days, and between very distressed people and very angry people (some being very nasty) I'm all over the place emotionally. Need to find a way to remember that not everything in life (or even in the church) is about abuse and trauma.

I forgot that I am supposed to journal for class today. I have been trying so hard to set my feelings aside in order to function that I pushed the journal assignment out of my mind, too.
