Currently, I am reading through a book called "Not by Chance! Shattering the Modern Theory of Evolution" by Dr. Lee Spetner.

I have read through only a couple chapters and so far it has been very, very good. I recommend it if you like reading about this kind of stuff.

God bless,

How do you like McGrath?

I read a Christian Theology book by him last year and was just curious if reading other books by him would be a good thing to do or if I should pursue other authors on theological things. :)
McGrath is awesome, stay with him!!!!

Boy you got alot of blessing, how about sending a bunch this way, I'll summerize some great McGrath points for you that will knock your sock's off. Actually I would do that anyway.....

I just started "Jesus Among Other Gods" by Ravi Zacharias.

He is a profound thinker. Anyone else read this?
I haven't read that Zacharias book, but I've read some by him. I have this book but haven't started it yet.

Blessings,

I am reading The Key of Solomon the King. It is an ancient mystical text that was translated in 1889 into English. In 1889 it cost $300 to own a copy of this book. So very few had access to the mystical Christian knowledge. It's a powerful book to say the least. Not meant for the novice practitioner that's for sure. I'm learning a lot from it and enjoying the read. The price has come down a bit since 1889. The book cost me $17.00.

Wow--you guys are really well read. Right now, I'm reading Babylon Rising, the new Tim LaHaye project. I didn't want to read it, I couldn't even finish that one chapter promotional freebie they were handing out at the stores, but for some reason my Girlfriend thought it would be a good anniversery gift (I didn't even realize that people who weren't married exchanged anniversery gifts).

currently reading "Winter Close" by Hugh Mackay. It's about the suburban life of Sydney, with real suburbs but fictional characters. It's a really interesting and entertaining read, the author throws his readers issues like when is a neighbour a friend, and the disappearance of close community as time progresses.

Among other books, I'm reading:

Financial Reckoning Day: Surviving the Soft Depression of the 21st Century by William Bonner with Addison Wiggin.

The authors also publish a newsletter that is available through their website at: http://www.dailyreckoning.com

The book and newsletter convey suprising statistics on the state of the economy mostly in the USA and most of the news is not good.

An example is: Consumer debt rising 4 times as fast as real GDP.

Message is:

US Government spending is rising out of control.
US consumer spending is rising out of control.
US Government debt is rising out of control.
US consumer debt is rising out of control.
US money supply is rising.
US imports are rising.
US trade inbalance is rising.
US manufacturing is in decline.
Many economic statistics that you've come to believe may be unreliable.
The US stock market is overvalued.
The commodities markets are currently undervalued.
There remain good ways to make money through investing but the patterns of the US economy as we've known them are unsustainable.

The investment viewpoint of the authors is contrarian relative to the opinion of big media and popular opinion.

Some comments are irreverent and unChristian in their viewpoint. Some are humorous. Many are interesting. Many are worthy of consideration.

I'm reading Foucaults Pendulum by Umberto Eco for the 2nd time, a fat book about Catholic conspirators (Knights Templar, that is) and
The Blood of the Lamb by Peter DeVries a semi-autographical novel about a Calvinist who rejects Christianity when his small child dies. I've read this one a bunch of times. Very funny at times but mostly sad to the bitter end.

"The Shadow of God" (Anthony Goodman) a novel about Suleiman the Magnificent ruler of the Ottoman Empire at the height of it's power and his attempt to take Rhodes from the Knights of St. John. I've always thought Suleiman was the best and most interesting of all the rulers during the 16th century, and am enjoying the story so far!
