this is a great read, not only for Pastors but for anyone in a Christian leadership role.

I just finished reading Cormac McCarthy's Child of God. It was a pretty gross read, but it's a short little novella. It's about a man who becomes estranged from society and in some acts of 'revenge' on society, he commits some heinous and disgusting crimes. By the end of the book you're questioning if the man is even human. But as the title of the book says, the man is a child of God just like the reader. It puts into perspective just how much someone can distance themselves from the grace of God, and yet their connection to God is never truly severed.

Overall I think if you're looking to read McCarthy, you could skip this book. I'd only read it if I was a big McCarthy fan.

The Jewish War by Flavius Josephus. A good primary source for the Judean Revolt AD 66 to AD 73. The book also gives graphic detail of the Siege of Jerusalem in AD 70 that ended with the destruction of the Temple as well as the rest of the city. It also final siege at the fortress of Masada were Eleazer ben Ya'ir with the remnants of the Sicarii held out against the Tenth Legion (Legio X Fretensis) under Lucius Flavius Silva.

Now it is my turn to read that. Should be very interesting.
