I'm kinda picky with books, but I like the ones where you can relate to the characters, the plot is easy to follow etc. One of my favourite books that I read when I was younger, was called A Kind of Magic by Catherine MacPhail. It's about a young boy who steals a fossil on a school trip and he discovers that it has special powers. But unfortunately I can't find it in local bookshops. I have a feeling it's not in print anymore.

Well, this is good; some of the diet material around has been called into question, but I'm glad this one is helpful. I've changed what I eat quite considerably.

Its not so much a diet book as it is about the Science (& lack of) & manipulation involved in the "recommended" diet advice since the 40's/50's etc & what the Science really said/says using the actual study's that were done & often edited to show a certain bias or disregarded altogether when they dident give the results thy were looking for.

It's a catch-22 with much research: if it's sponsored by politicians, one can often expect a politically convenient 'fudge' to emerge out of the 'results' of research; if it's a big corporation behind the research, one can imagine business-driven profits somewhere along the line.

I think the balance of independent research from various quarters is important, including for dietary matters.
