  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For the member who is re- reading Jane Eyre:

Was your latest re-read the result of seeing the latest movie version? Why do you re read this particular book?

I re-read this classic myself every 3 or 4 years or watch a different movie version and each time I get a different insight.

When I saw this latest movie (I thought the actress playing Jane was the best of any version I have ever seen), it really struck me why Jane could not live with Rochester after she found out he was still married. All her life she had been treated as the outcast and second class citizen, and to be Rochester's mistress and not his wife, would have been continuing this, and she had had enough.

I am reading... Um a lot : Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, Thessalonions in the NT, also Romans with my sisters and a few daily devotional books... Not to mention all my university reading! I do Archaeology and have an essay due at the end of the month on light in the museum environment...:o

I do love reading. Fantasy especially, and Christian books too. I have a few lined up.. :)

Any fellow crazy bookworms, or for that matter anyone from the UK on here? That would be exciting hehe.

God bless!

Hi darellecourtney!
Nope, not from the UK but an avid reader, especially fantasy. I had never heard of Brandon Sanderson before until he tool over the Wheel of Time series after Robert Jordan died. He's doing a pretty good job so far so I might just pick up another of his novels. I have heard that his Mistborn series is very good. Have you ever read it?

Archaeology sounds fascinating! What do you hope to do with your degree?

God Bless!

Hi Forgiven828, nice to meet you. :) I just picked up this book the other day in the market, but I'm really enjoying it already. :) Actually, heh, I only picked the book up cos it had a unusual picture on the spine! But it's really good, I'm halfway through already! I definitely will pick up some fiction by him in the future if I see it. What authors do you reccomend? I haven't read anything else by Brandon Sanderson nope. :)

I'm not entirely certain what I would like to do, though I am very interested in possibly getting involved in conservation. I would love, actually, to come to the US to do some sort of internship. I like Archaeology a lot, though the digging is tough when I have to do it!! It's very interesting, a really hands on degree.
