CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm currently reading Making God Known by Greg Laurie. It is a well written thin book about how to bring others to faith. I'm also reading The Screwtape Letters by C.S Lewis. This novel is in form of fictional correspondence between a demon Screwtape who is a high ranked official in the satan's army and his nephew Wormwood who is a rookie. The book is made of Screwtape letters to Wormwood. He is coaching his nephew on how to get a human soul. The letters are depicting ongoing spiritual war from the demon's perspective; therefore, he refers to God as to the enemy and to humans as to the patients.

Technically I mentioned this already in another thread but here it goes again. lol Currently I'm reading Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass and Boethius's The Consolation of Philosophy. Mind you I happen to like the former over the latter.

Well yesterday I read The Magicians Nephew in the Narnia series...and today I read The Silver Chair. I'm basically waiting for my books to come in from Amazon...and I hope to begin the Drizzt series by R.A. Salvatore tomorrow. I already read the first book in the series a couple days ago, and I hope to start the second.

the entire golden compass series, great books. I'd recommend them to anyone who is one of those people who, when they are offended by something, choose to immerse themselves in it and wrestle with it rather than just walking away.
