I love the part in “A Well of Lost Plots” where Miss Havisham gives the Wuthering Heights characters anger management counseling...^_^

My particular favourite is the bit set in Shadow the Sheepdog - I read that so often as a child! Check out the website, can't remember the URL, but type in Thursday Next and you'll get it. Lots of extra funny bits. Agree with you about the swearing etc - unnecessary.

Forget to mention I'm also reading Thud! by Terry Pratchett.

I really enjoyed that book! The idea of a Cemetery of Forgotten Books was just wonderful. Drop me off there and pick me up when it's time to go home!
"In this place, books no longer remembered by anyone, books that are lost in time, live forever, waiting for the day when they will reach a new reader's hands....
According to tradition, the first time someone visits this place, he must choose a book, whichever he wants, and adopt it, making sure that it will never disappear, that it will always stay alive."

The Shadow of the Wind; Carlos Ruiz Zafon

If you've come across more along similar lines I'd like to hear about them too!

Those quotes are lovely!

"In books I meet the dead as if they were alive. In books I see what is past and what is yet to come. All things fade and pass with time, all fame would fall victim to oblivion if God had not given the mortal man the Book to aid him."~Richard De Bury

I forget where I found this quote, but it's one of my favorites.
Are the quotes you mentioned in that book? "The Shadow of the Wind"?

Your Humble Servant,
-Jenka

Yes. I like your quote too, Jenka. In fact I can't say/hear enough good things about books!

I just finished reading "The Book Thief" by Marcus Zusak and "Haunted" by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker.

Both are excellent books that I HIGHLY recommend.

Before that I read "Send Me" by Patrick Ryan. This book was alright (I've met the author and he's a REALLY nice guy) but I'm not eager to recommend it for the same reasons I don't oft recommend "Everything is Illuminated". The book has a lot of non-Christian undertones, but it is still very well-written and has an interesting story.

I am reading "My Utmost For His Highest" my favorite daily devotional, since it is not just sweet morsels, but challenges one to accept their duties and responsibilities in their Christian walk. Also reading Stormie OMartian's "The Prayer That Changes Everything",Charles M. Sheldon's- "In His Steps", and getting ready to start reading the 7 volumes of "The Chronicles Of Narnia" which I have never read.

If you like medical thrillers,I recently finished "Demon In The Freezer",and it is intense,LOL!

I hope you enjoy them, I've loved them since being a young child and read them countless times. They're special.
