I have been doing some research I guess you'ed call it on music especially artists I have not listened too or necessarily liked. That has allowed me to develop a greater respect for edifferent sorts of music outside my usual tastes. I especially like documentaries as they give the background story and link artist to others which I may have liked. For example I am a big Beatles fan and never really got into the Stones. But after checking out their story and a wider variety of their music I discovered a lot I liked. Especially their connection to the blues with artists like Muddy Waters. As Mick Jagger said they named their band after a line in Muddy's song Mannish Boy
from that I often discovered artist who I had heard of but didn't realise how good they were or the influence they had on music. For example Canned Heat. After checking out more of their music I come to like them even though they didn't have the commercial success of the Stones or Doors. This often then leads to discovering other artists like the Allman brothers and then it never ends lol.

I love ELO. They remind me of the Beatles mark 2. I grew up with their music and followed them all my life. Jeff Lynn worked with the Beatles and produced and wrote songs for George Harrisons and Paul MaCartneys solo career and the come back of Roy Orbison. He also helped other artists like Tom Petty and Dave Eedmonds and was also a big part of the Travelling Wiburys with Harrison, Orbison, Dylan and Tom Petty. A brilliant and talent man.
