The eternal purpose of God in his grace in Jesus Christ is for us to become priests and servants (kings) of our God and to serve on the earth; Jesus, the high priest, we, the members of his body, the common priests.
For those whom our Lord Jesus has given them the victory over the wicked one, this service in the ministry of the reconciliation begins today(Rev 5:9,10)
1 John 2:13,14 tell about the victory over the wicked one, which is the victory witnessed in Rev 15:2.
Thus the family of heaven and earth are brought together in one body.
Eph 1:9-10
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: KJV

Taking the minimalist route, we were created because God the Creator could create and chose to do so. "Let us make man."
Within the context of the system we were brought into, we have functions. Everything has a part in the play.
Seems to me it all fits together, and whereas we sometimes forget what fits where and why fitting is important, we thrive best once we remember.

In the interest of fairness, I usually try to answer my own questions. I'll admit that I am still working through how I would answer this question and so I don't have a fully formulated response to my own question. However, at the end of the day, I think that my response will include something relating to making disciples (i.e. a relational activity).

I'd like to see you flesh out your idea more when you get the time to do so. I can see the "making disciples" relational to the idea of "giving glory to God" in the sense that sin separates and God is the restorer/reconciler of creation. I'd be interested in your perspectives here....how you see things

Some gods are prepared to be with Jesus. Some gods are fitted to be with Satan and his angels. All the gods must die like men, even the translated/raptured ones. Psalm 82:6,7.
You will see those who were afore prepared unto glory and you will see the vessels of wrath fitted for destruction.
Some suffer in well doing; while others live well, with plenty for years to come.

I am troubled by the idea that God is like the people I know. The more I think about it, the more I wonder whether all of us should be troubled by this idea.

Ok heres your quote.
I'm troubled by the fact that you would say that He is reproduce Himself through us. This carries the idea that he is making copies of Himself through us. Which means more Gods will be just like Him, in all things, produced through us. Is this your idea? If not then flesh out your ideas a little more please.
