  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are these? Are they edible?

My Dad has a tree in his yard that drops these things, and deer seem to love them. My Dad says they're crab apples, but when I googled images of crab apples, they always appear to be more round like actual apples. The ones from my Dad's tree are more elongated. They do smell like apples though. Are they actually crab apples? And are these things edible for humans?

Look like crab apples, how big are they, a little bigger than a walnut?
I don't have them with me right now, but I believe they're about an inch and a half long.

Crab apples (Malus domestica). They come in different sizes, colors and shapes like regular apples - which genetically they are, just smaller fruited. None of them are poisonous, but unripe ones can cause indigestion. Most crab apples are sold as ornamentals with the fruit going to the wildlife. I think they are best cooked, kinda stewed, with a bit of cinnamon, cloves and honey to reduce the bitterness.
