  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The problem with arguments such as the one happening in this thread is that most of the participants are speaking but not listening. There are exceptions, and I try to be an exception myself, but most of the time when a post gets rebutted, the original poster will deny the rebuttal rather than admit that perhaps that particular rebuttal might have made a good point.

In another forum I answered some people who were claiming that a real Jesus never existed. I posted the common line that "there is more hard evidence for the existence of Jesus than there is for the existence of Julius Caesar." Somebody answered and rebutted that statement with an argument that I had never heard. It didn't change my mind about the historical reality of Jesus, but it did change my perspective about the particular line I used. I answered by acknowledging that the poster had made a good point, and I thanked him for sharing. I wish I saw that kind of response from more people.

Well since post 47 has roundly dealt with the financial arguments I'm wondering if there are ways Trump has made America better.

I would love to hear how he has improved

The quality of the environment
The safety of citizens
The credibility of its institutions and its intelligence community
The education of citizens

It gets tiring hearing that Trump has been so great only because of the economy. And now that their numbers are shown to do be pretty meh, let's diversifycome on Trump supporters! Please don't let me down! I don't live down there so I am curious about how things have improved.

Donald has accomplished one thing which I don't think anyone can deny has indeed made America great: He has inspired an entire generation of people to get involved in politics -- most of whom are firmly in the "NeverTrump" camp, to be sure, but involved nonetheless.

Donald Trump has kept his campaign promises. He is far from being a conman.

No, he hasn't. He made several promises about protecting LGBT rights while he was still campaigning.

I already answered that. Did you see all the facts and statistics I posted in my original post?

Did you see the subsequent rebuttals of those claims?

I suspect Boo meant to say ‘he kept the campaign promises that I know/care about’.

Has being incredibly rude and name calling ever helped your POV?

Asking for a friend......

The above statement coming from a Trumper.... LOL.
"What a nasty question. You should be ashamed."
(Just quoting the President by the way, don't shoot the messenger.)

True, probably get Trump even more votes in 2020.
Looking to be a breeze for Trump.
Latest news -- Biden got lost again.

Do you have any idea about what happened to any of these endeavors?

I lost my temper. I usually try hard to avoid doing so. It becomes incredibly frustrating however seeing people stating complete falsehoods as truth.

History will remember Trump well. That is a truth, not falsehood, that you cannot deny.

That’s not a truth, it’s just something you think, and it’s very deniable.

Ronald Reagan wasn't all that popular when he was president. But now his legacy is remembered well. He's very popular among conservatives to this day, and I think the same thing will happen with Trump.

Donald Trump is not, on the best day of his life, Ronald Reagan.

He's very popular among conservatives to this day, and I think the same thing will happen with Trump.
Well, that just like, your opinion, man.
