One of the Pharisees tested Jesus with a question, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" (Matthew 22:36 NIV). Jesus replied, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40 NIV).

I try day in and day out to try to follow these commandments, the second one can be very hard sometimes.

Matt 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Matt 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

You must first HEAR, Spend time reading the bible. Try for an Hour/day.

Then you must DO.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Love for God is obedience to his commandments. Obedience requires submission to His will, to put His way above your own, anything else would just be lip service. We often want to say we love God and still hold onto the darkness of this world. God is light and in Him is NO darkness. Don't be fooled you CANNOT hold onto the world and be a part of the kingdom of light.

Love for others = to put their interests ahead of your own. To follow the example of Christ and lay down your life (eg. time, money, opportunity) for the good of others.

totally. you need to soak your self in the Word of God daily. It's our spritual food. And without it, we will not grow. What I love doing is, after reading through a passage, not only do I QT, I download a sermon from a pastor on that passage and listen to it. It truly is edifying. Another important and one of the most underutilized resource we have as a Christian is prayer. In all things, we need to be praying to God about. All Things. I myself try to live a life "worthy" to be called a Christian as Paul says. Although I am lacking in many many areas, currently i'm working at my attitude towards my family members. I seem to be so nice, putting up a front of some sort when dealing with outsiders, at church, at work, but I feel as though I abuse the relationship sometimes within my family. Anyway, just remember the Holy Spirit uses the Word, to sanctify. I always pray to God to keep my love for Jesus and his Holy Bible to grow, daily. As capnator says, you can talk all you want, but without the walk, it's USELESS. I'm in no way saying work saves, but as someone said, " you are saved by faith alone, but never a faith that is alone."

I'm currently trying to be a more loving and forgiving person with the help of Jesus of course. whats yours?

'This is the work of God, to believe in the One God sent', really all of the commands come back together and tie into each other.

'Love one another', 'love your enemies', 'turn the other cheek', 'do not judge', forgive...

It is very hard - if not impossible - to know when a slight against us is intentional or not, and so on. So, one ends up giving it up to God who is master of all. And thereby one does not "judge", and also, "turns the other cheek", and practices "love one another", even "love your enemy".

It is really awesome how it all ties in together.
