Isaiah 5:20 & 21
:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

:21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight.

How is this verse relevant to us today? And how can we reverse the trends? (if any)

It's an interesting question! What are we thinking?

(Matt 6:22-23) 'The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!'

Thank Jesus He is the Light, who dispels the darkness.

'Be not wise in Thine own eyes. Fear the LORD and depart from evil'.

I think it depends on whether you're talking about us as Christians calling evil good, and good evil, or if you're talking about what to tell others.

Either way, this seems to be one of the more relevant verses for us today. This describes the American culture perfectly. Save the whales, protect the owls, but kill the babies. This is not a popular message, but the really important ones seldom are welcomed. We have to figure out how to tell this urgent message without chasing people further from God.

There must be a way to give people the information, to convey the urgency, but do it in love, without condemnation. I don't know how to do that, but I try.

And unfortunately, we can't reverse this trend, except in the church itself. We put the message out there, but it is up to the Holy Spirit to convict their hearts, and up to them to either accept the message and repent, or reject it. As long as we put the truth out there in clear terms, we have done the job Christ has for us to do.

Just my opinion. (Sorry, stuff like this, where good is called evil, and vice versa, occasionally hits a really sore spot with me!!)

I'm supposed to be getting ready to go salmon snagging but I just couldn't leave after I saw this.

The first thing that came to my mind is the "flood of lies" spoken of in Revelation.

Revelation 12:15

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

We can most cerainly see how truth everywhere is being distorted and becoming the norm of thinking.

I can't remember off the top of my head (I'll come back later with it) the scriptures that talk about lies becoming truth and truth becoming lies.

We need to understand that although the Lord promised us He would never flood the earth ... satan made no promise. The difference is satan cannot destroy all on earth ... but he will certainly do much damage. There will be a residue left when it's all said and done.

What I believe we need to do is first put on and don't take off our armor of God in Ephesians 6.

Second we must work over time at putting scriptures out by the thousands everywhere we can. (The purpose of many of the threads here). You see, God doesn't need us to explain what He means in every little scripture. If it is there He can inspire through the Word. The Word is Jesus, afterall.

Third we must speak up and dispell every lie we see. The message must be balanced as much as humanly possible. We must not accept half truths or make a place for those who speak out of truth.

Most of all, we must not be afraid. The spirit of fear is not from the Lord. He will take care of us ... we just shouldn't expect to sit here and do nothing in return for Him. We NEED workers in the harvest not cowards.

Sorry this isn't done well ... and I gotta go ... I'll be back later

Thank you, op for this very timely and important thread.

God bless all!
