I've known people who are terrified of frogs, mice, spiders, and even worms (of any kind). They say they know those things are harmless, but it's just some irrational fear deep inside... Are there any animals you are afraid of?

I don't like bugs at all.... especially Earwigs, this year one crawled into my left ear white I was asleep and awoke me very fast and scared me! EEKKKK Yuckie!!

I'm intimidated by larger dogs (most smaller ones are OK). I am not generally afraid of any other animals unless they demostrate some kind of threatening demeanor. There are lots of animals that I don't like but they don't strike fear into me so I won't mention them.

Not all rats carry disease. If they are raised as pets, they are great! I have two as pets. They are very friendly, and pretty intelligent. As a pet, I usually describe themselves as a cross between a cat and a dog. They actually play with you, and not on you(like hamsters). They know their name, and will come(for the most part) when you call. They are constantly cleaning themselves, and easily trained using food. They will do anything for a treat.
I have pet rats too! Rats rule! I think they are lovely pets. But I have to admit, having known them as pets, I think they can be quite a nuisance when they are wild. Because they chew up all kinds of stuff and like to get in to everything. Humans tend to have a conflict with rats because wild rats like our food and our homes and will come in and chew up wires, eat insulation, eat our food, etc.. But domesticated rats are really wonderful pets if you take care of them properly. You are right that rats don't "carry" disease that can affect human beings. The rat was never responsible for the bubonic plague because it was the FLEA that carried the disease. It just so happened that the flea likes to bite both rats and humans. I figure that these days, people would be more likely to get bubonic plague from their dog or cat since the flea also likes to live on those animals. But the plague only can come back if we forget our sanitation procedures and medical knowledge and revert back to the middle ages. I believe that the only disease that you can give to your rat or your rat can give to you is a staph infection.

;) I'm not scared of ANYTHING.... I wish!

Praying mantis, Horses, dogs and somtimes cats scare me, although I have a cat, and I love her:hug: , and I want a dog. :D

Spiders are yuck:eek: , but I'm not really scared of them, I just think they are way to gross to touch, so if there is one in my room I always get my dad to get it.

I'm not scared of anything, except maybe roaches. I have roach baits all over my house, so I can pretty much live at peace.

I'm also afraid of people that are afraid of rodents as a whole. I don't mind if they pick on one particular species of rodent, say the roof rat. But when people make stereotypes about all rodents, like saying they all have diseases, I don't like that. My favorite rodents are sciurines (squirrels, prairie dogs, marmots, and chipmunks). I believe that places that have lots of sciurines are not infested, rather, they are blessed.

To clarify a definition, sciurine is to squirrel as canine is to dog.
