I was baptisted in a catholic church as a aby, but I never really went to church..I used to be pro-choice but I'm pro'life (until a few days ago I made an exception when rape/incest but changed since its not the baby's fault how he or she was conceived...I care about the environment and volunteer at Hopelink..I sometimes think that I show more "Christian" traits then people that say they're Christian...I get mad when i hear about how a Christian has no problem putting bible verses on guns (although I might be mistaken about it)...The tv shows i regularly watch are baseball, football, Daily show, colbert report and 2 soaps...I'm trying to decide what local church to go to, but i'm still cleaning up my life by going through and dumping items that aren't good for me spirititually...

I like beautiful women and have a CD of pictures (i'm single)..actresses singers and models....I'm going thru them to edit out the bad ones...

That's it for now...

Thanks for reading...

It sounds to me that you are a person who is taking careful inventory of yourself and your life, and who wants to get things right and establish a relationship with Father God. These are good things. The way to do this is through the completed work of Jesus, done out of love for you on the Cross.

There are two ways we can go bad. We can choose bad things, or we can choose good things that get in the way of better things. There's a couple of shows there that I would not personally watch with any frequency, because I don't believe they are terribly helpful. But this is a personal decision that each of us must make. We have a lot of freedom, but we should use that freedom for the most good[sup]1[/sup]. The safest way to go is to ask God if He's pleased with what we're doing, with a willingness to do as He guides.

As for the stolen items, again it's hard to say. I would be inclined to return them if doing so didn't do more harm than good. I would pray it through until you have peace about what you're doing.

And you're welcome, and welcome to the forums.

[sup]1[/sup]For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. -Gal 5:13

The problem is that the person doesn't work there anymore...so do I still mail it to the school and hope that it gets to the destination..As for the Screwtape book, the guy hasn't worked at radioshack for YEARS although his name is in the book.....The more I look around these forums the more i'm curious (i looked through the house church forum and why people left the church....There's a church near me that sounds like a great place to go (they're open 24/7, they have a community garden and a homeless camp..the building looks like an old building that I like...Also this place helps clear up some misconceptions about Christians not liking rock music or comic books or TV shows..I have OCD and had bouts of depression (whcih Paxil has helped control) which is why I'm slowly cleaning up my stuff...

BTW, I found this site by googling..Do Christians like led Zeppelin:blush:

If you have OCD symptoms I would go light on the need to return the stuff. Honestly, the book does not sound like a terribly serious thing. I know the principle is the same regardless of value, but sometimes, as I touched on in my previous post, more harm than good can be done by sweating the small stuff. Christians are led by the spirit behind the law, not by the letter of the law. That's one of the great beauties of the New Covenant.

That lack of legalism extends to everything we do, including music. I used to be a big Zeppelin fan. I don't care much anymore, but about a month ago I listened in again to Good Times, Bad Times and was amazed at what a work of art it is. And yes, if you go to a contemporary church you will find how much modern musical forms have entered the church. This was a trend begun by Luther, if not before. Many of his hymns were reworded contemporary folk songs.

One really great passage I rely on a lot is in James 3, where God's wisdom is intimately bound up with His purity and peace. When your heart finds the truth, it also will find peace and rest. This is a consequence of the Cross: Jesus has purchased a place of rest in the Father for us, by virtue of His precious blood. This is a peace that trumps any circumstances life can throw at us, and John 15 and Hebrew 4 exhort us to abide in it jealously.

As for the other post, be careful whom you take advice from. Morality is fully affirmed by the Christian faith. Don't let someone citing difficult passages from a temporary and imperfect covenant cloud the big picture of God's loving involvement with mankind.
