  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The above article discusses breastfeeding after a miscarriage. As I was reading, the only thing I could think of was maybe it was talking about feeding after the next pregnancy, but in several places it has stuff like this:

In certain situations, breastfeeding may be possible even after a miscarriage:
  • Recent Pregnancy: If the miscarriage was recent and hormonal levels have not yet stabilized, some milk may still be present.
and

How soon after a miscarriage can a woman start breastfeeding?
Breastfeeding can typically begin shortly after a miscarriage if the body is producing milk.

So who is going to be getting fed? The neighbor's baby?

The woman's existing children...
I knew most babies can eat solid food at 4 to 6 months, so I assumed moms would stop breastfeeding around then. I guess some just want to continue, or need to because of an excess of milk?

Your answer is in the article.
"The act of breastfeeding can promote emotional healing and bonding if they have a subsequent pregnancy or if they choose to adopt."
Also, it's recommended to still breastfeed even if the child can eat food, up to 2 years old.

Two years old? Sheesh. The kid should have a job by then. Buy his own food.

OP, do you not know about wet nurses?
UP, do you not know about the CF "quote" and "mention" features so that someone can know when you're talking to them?

Yes I've heard of wet nurses. Why'd you ask?

Well in modern times there are actually "milk banks" where new moms who are having trouble producing can go to and get milk produced by other lactaters.

Through evolutions the social nature of humans likely evolved this trait so as to be able to help other individuals in the tribe while strengthening social bonds between individuals.
