What Age Did You Two Get Married?

I was 25 and my wonderful husband was 28. We dated 4 1/2 years before getting engaged. Then 11 months later (about 5 1/2 years) we were married.

We were in college when we met. So, we just dated, experienced getting our 1st jobs, buying our 1st cars, he bought a house, etc., etc... When God led him, he proposed to me and things just blossomed from there!

No co-habitation or anything for us!

I was 18 he was 22. It was stupid to get married this young. We mostly did it because we wanted to have sex. We've been married three years and we both still act like selfish children sometimes. We're still learning how to share and pay our bills. Having a baby helped us a bit. It makes you feel like more of an adult, being responsible for a little baby.

Wow. Young. I know it's tough in terms of holding back if you consider abstinence important, but, personally, I feel love is more important than abstinence. In any event, I hope it all works out and you show great care before having child.

Yes, I agree sir, love is much more inportant than abstinence.. and I thank you, for your words, and I will show great care, for me it wasn't about having sex to get married. He is my one, especially with my medical condition, it was a good time to get married because we don't know how it's going to be for me, I live on a day by day basis with my illness since we dont know when I'll be ill, etc. I'm enjoying every moment of this blessing that the Lord has given me.

I was 20, he was 23. We got married because we love each other and wanted to be together all the time! We'd spent over a year mostly apart before we got married. We were best friends before we started dating and then dated 2 years (obviously usually a long-distance relationship) before we got married. We may have been young but we knew what we were doing. And it most definitely wasn't to get sex! (Though of course, that's an added bonus. ;o) ) It's been almost a year now since we got married and neither of us have regretted getting married for even an instant.

I've noticed that Christians get married younger too but I think it's just because they don't plan to move in with anyone before they get married. If you move in together, what's the point to getting married, ya know?

I was 18 and hubby was 21. We got married a month after I graduated from high school. That was July 92. We're still very happily married inspite of our youth when we got married. I don't think that age has a whole lot to do with a marriages success- it's how mature a couple is and how ready they are to cope with the stresses of marriage. It also has a lot to do with how much of your marriage you let God be a part of. We have 4 kids and have lived through a lot of stressful situations in the past 12 years but we're still going strong.

I was 21 and he was a few months shy of 25. I don't know if that is considered young or not to be married. DH's mom was barely 17 when she married a 19-year-old, so maybe I didn't marry at such a young age after all! I too have noticed that Christians seem to get married younger than non-Christians, but I don't know why. Maybe because of the sex thing? Chen and I married pretty quickly after we met one another, but I didn't feel rushed. Even if we hadn't been Christians, I still think we would have gotten married at the same time.

We weren't practising christians at the time, but I think most ppl married younger 25 years ago than they seem to do today.
