Imo some big thinking is not just ok, but essential. Of course reality will apply the brakes to big dumb ideas.

Maybe. I find it hard to know whats the result of an idea per se vs the result of just humans sort of unconsciously doing what we do. Individuals and society on autopilot headed for a mountainside in the fog.

You need different perspectives to build a society. Everyone doesn't think the same. Visionaries are important. That's how new ideas come about. Some people are happy contributing to a plan and others design them. They create something out of nothing. You need both.
