Two things, there is no reason to think that these are the "last days". Second, it does not even imply that the dreams would be reliable.

Actually it is not a premise but a conclusion. Evolution only says that organisms will change over time and different variations can survive depending on circumstances. The collection of evidence over time has indicated that all extant life forms have a common ancestor, but it would not be at all out of line if there were more than one starting point. The theory would not care, it is only the evidence that argues otherwise.

Indeed. Some researchers have suggested an independent line may exist amongst microbes, in some - to most life - extreme environment. They've suggested we be alert to the possibility. In some ways, were it discovered, it would be the equivalent of finding extra-terrestrial life. I'd love to give citations for this, but at present it is merely a recollection of something read, somewhere, in the last decade.
