  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the previous posting I wrote about Wesley's (and New Testament's) teaching on inward cleaning from sin & depravity. This is only half the truth; there is also a plus side to Holiness. Wesley taught that in the moment of heart cleansing from sin, God fills it with His 'perfect love'. Both Wesley and the New Testament writers agree that the essence of real biblical holiness is love. This has been the testimony of thousands that have experienced entire sanctification, that they have a new love for God and for others.
If we thought that the experience of the moment of heart cleansing & infilling of love was the total of 'Scriptural Holiness', we would be mistaken.
Bishop Moule once said that 'sanctification is a crisis with a view to a process'. There follows a growth in grace & the fruit of the Spirit.
Many mistake 'purity and maturity'. We are made pure in a moment of time, but we grow towards maturity over a period of time into greater Christlikeness.
The other fruit of Scriptural Holiness or entire sanctification is a freedom from the 'sinning repenting' cycle. One who is sanctified has a real victory over sinning. Not that they can't sin, but rather they by the grace of God, chooses not to sin.
It was prophesied in the Gospel that Jesus would save His people 'from their sins', and this is what He has provided for us today. Amen.
