  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They didn't do that. But thanks for giving your "expert" assumption. I take it you're a Professor of Roman history?

That's what you just claimed, which is it? Did you school teach you that the romans were correct in their reports or not?

So in the absence of archeological evidence you make your dispute?

Given no evidence to back up a claim wouldn't it be smart to think the romans were making things up?

Or should we go on thinking what we want no matter what evidence says?

Sowwy Druweid - I can only go on what I learnt at University, perhaps the Ancient History department got it wrong?
Wouldnt be the first time. It depends on the teacher who's teaching the material.

My fiancee had a raging feminist for a sociology teacher. This teacher claimed that there were anti-Islamic symbols and anti-immigrant symbols in The Lion King.

Just because you learned it in school, even at a college level, does not make it right

Did she retake the class later so that she didn't get taught by a raving lunatic?
