Welcome to the forums, SladeValo!I just attended my first Orthodox service as well actually. I went to a local Greek Orthodox church only a couple miles away from my apartment. The liturgy was great and I felt at peace the entire time. It was also a bonus that they were having a free meal afterwards and I got the opportunity to meet a lot of nice people and have a very good conversation with the priest. He gave me his contact information, answered some questions I had and even offered to send my information to another priest who is apparently trying to get an Orthodox student group going at the university I'm attending. I definitely want to go again next Sunday and it's great to hear others are a good experience like I did.

That's pretty standard actually. Almost every parish in America has a meal afterwards. It's called different things, Agape meal, Fellowship Hour, Trapeza, but it's mostly, almost universally, called Coffee Hour. Everyone talks about how that's a misnomer since usually it goes for longer than an hour and there's much more than coffee. You're always welcome!
Glad you enjoyed it. Which part did you like the most?
went to saturday vespers and that was cool. I met some of the guys and hung out. I planned on going to the Greek orth on Sunday but the guys were saying to come back to Antiochian on Sunday so I did.
It became an all day event. I went to the service heard a reading that I took in and absorbed, and was in incerdible peace. The feeling of a pressure on my midsection and almost crying was a few times. People shared their bread with me and afterwards I met some a lot more people.
Met the priest, the readers, cantors, ex-ministers, etc.etc. We ate afterwards and talked with lots of people. After that the guys were going to hang out at some bar/grill place and talk. So we hung out for hours at the bar/grill like they do every sunday. After that we went to a men's hang out/study and read a 46 page Seraphim Rose book then they gave me the book to have.
It was a mindblowing experience since. I have never been welcomed at a church especioally like that. I hope God protects what I have found and experienced. I pray that He delivers me from all my troubles so that I can experience this even more and serve Him better. I wish that I had known Jesus when I was young. I wish that I knew people like thos whn I was young, even my whole life. This was purely amazing. Summarized version. Still need prayers. Have major things happening in one week.

Your experience mirrors my own. On the stuff going on in your life...nothing is too big for God.
