I think seven OT and two NT, but not all are required. Usually our parish reads them all. Adults get baptised and confirmed, candles are lit, palms are burned (we have a Weber grill out front) - it is all quite lovely.

Is this the one on saturday night or the actual sunday service?

Tossing around the idea of my wife and I going either Easter Sunday or the day before to Saint Pats Catholic Church. Unless the pastor makes a big deal about wanting us at our church then I wont. Usually on Christmas and Easter the place is packed so maybe no one will miss me ;)

lol, its always a fun day when the E&C's come out of the woodwork for the Holy Days isnt it? The sunday would be a tough one for me to do because of prior obligations but If I could I would check it out. :) You'll have to tell us how it is.

My second RCIA class is tommorow night. Last week they said they are going to continue meeting after confirmations which would be the first class of theirs to do that. So it'll work out nice for me since I plan on continuing to go.

Hey, consider this an invitation to any and all to attend an Orthodox Pascha (Easter) service this year. Pascha's not until May 1st so it won't interfere with your Easter services. Our service starts about 11:30 p.m. of Holy Saturday and goes til about 2:30 Sunday morning. And then we FEAST! Come on over!

Oh sure you know we are Baptists, and you mention a feast? Play to the stomach, that was sneaky ;) All baptist churches will no be empty on Easter... LOL

I had thought of the Orthodox Church for the Easter service, but I am going there for Christmas instead.

Yup, those Easter and Christmas Catholics, showing up to Mass in droves, and making anyone who doesn't arrive extra early have to stand against the wall the whole time! Gotta love em! ;)

haha I think this involves all of christendom. :p

I probably won't tell anyone in this forum my experience at Easter or at Christimas, consideringthe last time I did, it was closed with a few hours of posting. But I will if asked in PM :)

:preach: I can relate to this. I am pleased with the way this thread is going, Im enjoying the fellowship. Now if we can maintain peace for another 18 hours or so until i have my second class we will acheive a new milestone :p:pray:

LOL. In my case it was probably mostly my fault. I had never been to a mass before and the culture shock for the lack of a better term had me mystified. I related all of my thoughts and what I saw. Well I should have kept my mouth shut. Must have been two minutes later the thread turned into people trying honestly to be helpful telling why I saw what I saw and others of course being just plain mean liek they normally are.

Some said I should have relayed my thoughts about what I saw over at OBOB and let them tell about what I saw, but I really wasn't looking for something like that. I just wanted to share the experience with my fellow Baptists and let them know I was glad to be home ;)

To be fair I was really aggravated when i came home at what i saw and i should have just taken a few minutes to think about it before I posted. Maybe I should have posted it in a journal post that way nobody could have responded to it. Hindsight right?
