I think the situation in nz is different and you cant generalise it from america. Americans ought to realise they have a very skewed view on the world, plus theires a huge gap beetween rich and poor. If they looking at it from a material POV.

Spiritually, ive found many manifestations of christianity coming from america very shallow. Ie. Prosperity gospel.

While i don't agree with the interpretation of prosperity doctrine, i don't agree with many European Church things either, and i surely don't think that worldly secular politics are guiltless. America is not the only one with a skewed view.

I think the US is heading in the opposite direction. People equate "government help" with loss of freedom. So there is a resistance to social programs. There is currently a huge controversy over the "affordable health care system" recently put in place by President Obama and the liberals. Conservatives are making this a plank in the upcoming election platform. As of today, I think we are officially a socialistic country and not the "democratic republic" we were originally designed to be. Huge changes for the US... many do not like it.

Politics are a scam altogether. Freedom and capitalism made America the most powerful and richest nation on earth, and even its critics say that it is rich and spoiled, so socialism can hardly be said to be better. There are homeless people in every country and the problem is not about politics. Those homeless people have problems but its not because america needs more social programs. America needs the Church to to start being Christians instead of worldly Americans.

I dont mean to sound so harsh, my intention is only to share the belief i have and the things i see. If we look at scripture and what the apostles and lord teach us we must conclude that worldly social programs wont solve anything. I'm not against social programs but im for the Church being one of the biggest social programs itself. Im pretty messed up right now and im not exactly perfect either, but no one is apparently and so we can explore the problem together. Social programs are a scam because they are like a carrot that politicians hold in front of voters just to get them to follow their worldly path. Its my opinion that Christians should not join with politicians but instead should be a light shining brightly. We should be separrate from politics and its deceptive ways, and let the light of Christ shine separately.
