Has anybody heard of this problem I have? It only happens when i'm sleeping and i'm about to wake up. Its the closest feeling to death I have ever had. My mind is awake but I cant move my body or talk or anything, I cant even feel myself breathe. I can move my eyes a bit tho except their like jumping up and down so I see everything jumping up and down. I hear its called "sleeping awake" but I cant find anything on it. Anyone know anything about this? I'd like to know, I cant afford to go to a doctor.

Um well Ihave experienced something similar to that... I will be sleeping and I am awake inside, and I will be trying to wake myself up, but its impossible. Like I will be twitching and whatnot and really trying to force myself awake, yet I cant do it.
Anyways... Its not really the same but anyways...

thats kinda weird... I can immagine that must be scarry!!

That happens to me every blue moon, but it's like the worst feeling in the world. It's like I'm awake, but still asleep and I have to try and force myself to wake up. What I do now is just sit there for a second just going with the flow of things and then just focus on one area of m body to move. Cause with me if I can move whatever part of my body I will wake up. It's hasn't been happening lately though.

That happens during the time you sleep, I get that when I try to wake up from a nightmare.

I also get something else strange: When I'm going to sleep there is this state where I'm between waking and sleeping, and the only thing I feel is my head, and my breathing chest. I don't feel the rest of me. It's strange. But sometimes that's the best time to talk to me if you can do so without waking me up... because everything goes straight to my brain, without distraction

Yeah I do that, but I've found that if I lay on my back I think alot more than when I lay on my side or stomach. So I fall asleep alot faster if im laying the right way.

ummm usually i see it is a demon attack call me crazy if you want to, but it happens to me and many other christians, some of who can actually see their attacker. if it happens to me and i rebuke it in jesus' name it goes away. if someone near me (like hubby) is having the problem i rebuke it off him.

Wait, what do you mean a demon attack? You make it sound like its a regular occurance.

Yeah, I think its called sleep paralysis. Its when you are conciously awake, but your body is still paralyzed from being in deep sleep (your body naturally goes under a form of paralysis when you are in certain sleeping stages to keep you from flinging yourself all over the place when you are sleeping and dreaming :D ) and it wears off quickly. I remember my dad telling me when he had this experience and he got freaked out cause he couldn't move, but it passes. I am not sure if it is harmful or not.

I think sometimes it can be a spiritual attack actually, its happened to me-not for a while now- but im not sure what it was-however ive had other incidents during the night which im sure were spiritual battles.

I have this every night. If I don't fight it or take something to knock myself out, I'll be up for 24hrs straight with no problems. When I DO sleep, it's the wildest thing you can imagine. Anyone ever study lucid dreaming? I have that allll the time it seems. I started an online forum just for my dreams. They got so weird, so out there and so cool that I had to start writing them down.

Techbot, I have lucid dreams too.

When I lived in hospital residency, the other docs got so used to hearing my dreams every morning, they used to ask me in advance!

Great breakfast conversation, and bizarrely, everyone was really genuinely interested in them!
They can be QUITE realistic. I've even had dreams where I've visited places. Places I've never seen or been. Years later I'd find those places and was almost floored when I remembered details of the dream.

I have that too.

I also have dreams which involve a complicated story, culminating in an event which actually happens in real life. I read up on these phenomena though, and apparently, our brains can concoct stories in a split second, which accounts fo this.

Deja-vu is a similar phenomenon - its apparently a type of temporal-lobe waveform disturbance!

I dreamed of a house that my parents moved us all into ( I was still a teen when this dream occurred). People were hunting Christians down. There was a "secret" door in the back of a foyer closet that led to the living room. Upstairs, in a bedroom there was a small door that led to another room. The door was so small you'd have mistaken it for a utility accesibility opening - you had to crawl to get in. But when you opened it, it went into the attic which was made into another room. I remember the dream vividly because we were being hunted and people were storming the house looking for us. We were in that small room.

Years later, my dad took me to look at a house that they had seen in the paper. Walking in I got this cold chill. I recognized the foyer. I walked straight over to the closet and opened it...to find nothing. Or so I thought. The back of the closet suddenly opened and my brother was standing in the living room looking through at me. My dad was still checking out the house and started to go upstairs. I ran up behind him and went straight to the room I saw in my dream. There was a small door. I knelt down and opened it and found an empty attic. It wasn't converted to a room like in my dream, but had enough space to be converted if we so chose. We didn't end up moving into that house, but I still drive past it here in town (its only a few blocks from where I live now - some 20yrs later)
