  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

um i dont know how to do it off the top of my head but go look at www.flashkit.com for a tutorial on it. You are gonna need to know some basic actionscripting to do it.

You dont need flash to get that, you can do it with a regular mouseover. Your gonna have to be able to make the animated gif yourself though. Also if you do it with a mouseover you wont be able to have sound in it.

Each time you click on a button, it probably goes to a new "page" in the falsh navagation.

I.E. Start Page Menu , Show No Bar

User Clicks on Button1
Goto Button1 Page, that has Bar over Button 1 and so forth.

In Flash you can create multiple "movies" in a single Flash Animation, and control how it will go from 1 movie to the next.

well what i'm doing is actually not for the web - i'm creating a completely digital version of my curriculum vitae to show to prospective future employers and i'm doing it entirely in flash.

i see what you mean but i need one where the thing actually moves...see what i'm doing is where you have one 'panel' that has main links and when you hit one of the buttons on it then another panel slides into view with sublinks on it. and then when you click on another main link the sublinks panel for that section moves away and the new one moves in....do you get what i mean?

hey
if you look at the main nav menu at www.2advanced.com you'll notice the white bar that hovers over the menu item you most recently clicked...and moves around and stuff. anyone know how to do that (in flash)??

Each button has a "on (release) goto scene x" command.

scene x will have 12 frames where the white bar is actually moving across and where your sublinks panel will also move in. Frame 13 will have a 'stop' action command in it. It will also have an instance of a movieclip of the white bar pulsating.

This is basically what PGP said just in different words ;)
