  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Weird compliments

A years ago I was told I have soft hands.

As a guy, it's almost an insult to have soft hands. :p

Actually.. this is mine too. Same guy said it twice, and a girl said it once. It's like, is that good or bad?

Good example of why we should all be checking our words at the door of our mouths.

Prov 25:11 "Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances."

So are words unfitly spoken like apples of barbed wire in a puddle of lava?

Prov 10:19 "When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise."

Prov 17:28 "Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent."

Or as they say, "It's because light travels faster than sound that so many people look bright until they open their mouths."

However, for you to think on is Prov 19:11 "A man's discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory to overlook a transgression." Just let it go. I'd be willing to bet he knows he dropped a bomb and felt bad about it. A forgiving spirit makes an already pretty person even prettier.

Resist the urge to throw a low stinger at his shins at the next church Ultimate Frisbee competition. ;)
Hahahaha, well I wasn't angry at him.
I figured he probably meant something else, but it just happened to come out the way he said it. Like I said, he's married and has a teenage daughter, so I'm sure he's got some experience with women.... it just may have came out all wrong.

Which is why I just smiled, nodded, shook his hand and let it slide. :)

I have had my ears complimented. Which is just random and makes me a bit suspicious of the person who told me that.

And I have a few friends that text me every time they hear the song "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" and I choose to take it as a compliment. Because feeling insulted is a lot of work LOL

And the inside joke in my family is that the only thing sexy about me are my ankles so I get a lot of those comments when I'm around them :D

people always say they love the way I talk which is wired to me.
So you're really hyperactive and talk like Chip and Dale? ;)

someone told me that i resembled ben rothlesburger (sp?)
So you're 6'5", 300 pounds and don't wear a helmet while riding a rice rocket?

And I have a few friends that text me every time they hear the song "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" and I choose to take it as a compliment.
If you were my sister, I'd armbar the guy that called you that. At least, from my understanding of that phrase.

'You have skin like a baby...' Not really sure what that meant, but hopefully she meant it looked soft, poreless, and even-toned.

Not that really is any of those things without a bit of beauty paste...

There's also a Malay woman at one of the local stores in the mall, who asked me how I stay pale, and then proceeded to go on a tangent about bleaching creams, gloves while driving, parasols, etc. It was really surreal; I'd take a bit of melanin and sun damage on my legs at least, the way they're looking right now...

I have no idea what "armbar" is but I appreciate the sentiment.

Although I didn't say they were guys, just friends :p

Oh, well... if they were girls, err... I'd find a girl who was willing to armbar them... ;)

Technically, that's a flying armbar, but it's all the same end result. :D

One Sunday I wore a nice dress to church and some high-heels. It's not that I dress like a guy... because I don't... but I don't usually dress up that nice for church. I'm not a dressy person.

Anyway, one of the guys my parents are friends with came up to me during our greeting time and he was like: "Oh, you actually look like a girl today!" Now, I have no idea what he really meant by this, but he's married and has 2 daughters, so he should know how to talk to girls.

I was so embarrassed. I actually wanted to cry.
I'm sure he meant well, but there is NOTHING about that sentence that can be taken in a good light.

But, I just decided to grin and bear it and go along with it, even though inside I was feeling like a piece of dirt. :sorry:

yeah one of my friends told me that one time and i got mad lol ok i wear pants...every day...but my clothes are so skin tight i dont know how i could look like a boy! might be the short hair but good greif... how many old ladies do we see with short hair?
