I happen to hear this song "Our Town" which was the song they had on the last episode of "Northern Exposure" (miss that show) and as every time I hear it; I had to shed a tear as it so sad. What is it about sad songs they can be so beautiful.

I'm not even a fan, but The Poet and the Pendulum by Nightwish makes me cry, always. It's so beautiful but also immensely dark and sad. The deeply personal song, which features a real life exchange between songwriter Holopainen and his mom, imagines Holopainen committing suicide so that he doesn't have to do anything so drastic in real life. According to Holopainen, this song and the album saved his life.
