  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Jennie, you're so silly lol. I love those decorated cake pops, though! So cute. Probably expensive, but cute :)

I found a baker nearby who does cupcakes, so that's probably what I'd go with. Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream icing... yes, please!

We're having cupcakes, brownie bites, and chocolate chip cookies at our reception. With a milk bar. heheh.

Each woman in our family over the age of 18 is going to bake one batch of cupcakes to bring, so it will sort of symbolize the blending of our families. :D

CUPCAKES FTW!

Why do I assume that I need to pay for everything? I KNOW my mom would be delighted to make some cupcakes :) I think it would make her feel like she contributed something really special. Thanks for another great idea, Sara!

Well, let's see...

My family was against our marriage and actually planned an arranged marriage for me. So we ran away and became homeless to get married. We got married after two weeks of homelessness.

However my mother at least belatedly gave her blessing on our marriage (probably only because if there's anything worse than getting married without permission it's divorce.)

We had a very small, no frills public ceremony on August 28th 2010, 6 years to the day we started dating, at the same school we met, with some of our friends still around. My mother came out for it, as did one aunt and her daughter.

It worked for us. I had no girlfriends you see and I was going to be hard pressed to find any girls to stand up for me besides the one cousin who came out for this one. She ended up being the photographer.

My husband's family was fairly supportive. His mother, grandmother, one sister and her daughter came out for it.

At any rate there were just about 16 people, reception was juice and cookies. The most expensive stuff was probably my dress and my husband's tunic and kilt. But we got both with the idea of using them again at ren faires and stuff like that.

You're welcome!

Two venues I'm considering. Both are right in my town, and both have very reasonable rates. The first one is beautiful, historic, and has gardens we could use (weather-permitting, of course). The second one has some beautiful, spacious rooms.

Belmont Hall - Smyrna, Delaware - Wedding and Special Events Venue

Smyrna Opera House - Rental Photo Gallery

Belmont Hall looks LOVELY! :D

Nienna - where'd you get your dress?

Sara - Mom has politely declined to make my cupcakes lol. She says she'll be nervous enough. Back to looking for a bakery :)

Hmm. I wonder how difficult it would prove to ship them. :D Thinking, thinking. :D

I got it at Pearson's Renaissance Shoppe but apparently it's actually cheaper at ArmStreet who is the actual manufacturer. It's called the Chess Queen dress, it can be made completely custom. It also adjusts with lacing on the sides, which is good because my waist is never the same size two days in a row due to food intolerances (unfortunately of extremely common food that is impossible to actually avoid entirely.) There's also a surcoat that is made to go over the dress if one would like.
