  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do any of you think having a website for a house church is a good idea? I mean I know it can't hurt, but considering the vast difference in "offerings" from a house church and a traditional church in the sense of congregations and gatherings, a website would seem to be a bit cost ineffective. If so, are there any website services that are free? I have looked and nothing is totally free in that regard that I know of. All are for a free trial period then you must pay. Any ideas?

I think it's a good idea. You can post events and information that members and interested could refer to. As for web hosts, I use KVC:
and have found them very good. I believe they have either a free or extremely cheap entry-level plan. If you want your own domain that costs a small amount more.

An alternative way would be to set up a Google group for email or a home page on Google+ or FB.

if you advertise your house church in the USA you are legally bound to have certain municipal provisions in place are per local building regulations.

If it is just spread by word of mouth and invitation then you can get around this issue.

My advice - be careful.

I have had a free website since 1997. I first started with geocities. That merged and I went to Ocatch and that became overloaded with adds so I went to free webs Webs - Make a free website, get free hosting I have been with this service since at least 10 years.

My site is wftr.webs.com
Blogs then started and I signed up with blogspot. They are good and offer a lot of free stuff. You can put a lot of Bible lessons on there. There is also a way to index past articles.

I now post a link of what I write on Facebook also. I think the way to go is to have both facebook and a blog. Blog for keeping different teachings and Facebook for interaction and photos.
