Hi guys

I am a junior web dev and program in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Would anyone want to get together and make a cool project for God? I don't know what it would be, but I have always wanted to use my skills for God, and I prayed that He would use me to further His kingdom in some way through creativity and my work. It would be awesome if we could build something that would benefit the Body and glorify Him.

Hi! I once made a bash script that would display a random 10 verse passage from the Bible on my phone.

I'll be glad to share it with you, if you want (assuming I can still find it ).

Like I said, it's in bash, so I don't know if it would help or not. Kind of a brainstorming idea!

Yeah, I know there are more and more Christian websites and apps now, which is so great. I still would just love to be able to bring more of Jesus into the world, and help people see and understand Him. By whatever means possible, I think we can all use our talents and our skills to preach about Him, and light up the world by the abilities He has given us.

Cool! Now I just have to find it... I had originally wrote it and set it up on a terminal emulator on my Android phone. That phone has since died (it went for a swim ), but I think I was able to save all of the scripts onto my laptop.

Turns out it's really just a one-liner. I copied the whole thing below, just for fun.

I don't know what your level of expertise is,
(mine is pretty basic)
so I'll give plenty of details below.

#!/data/data/com.termux/files/usr/bin/bash

#cp -v storage/shared/a/77 ../usr/bin/77

head -"$[RANDOM%40833]" storage/shared/Music/WEB.txt |tail -10 > storage/shared/Download/RandomBible"$(date +%m-%d-%H-%M-%S)".txt

I was using the termux terminal app, but a different device might use a different shebang, such as

#!/bin/sh

The next line just made it easier for me to edit the script in my script folder and then copy it over into the $PATH for easy execution. I could execute by typing "77".

#cp -v storage/shared/a/77 ../usr/bin/77

Then the final line is the real meat. I was using the World English Bible, which has no copyright. The file "WEB.txt" had 40833 lines.

head -"$[RANDOM%40833]" storage/shared/Music/WEB.txt |tail -10 > storage/shared/Download/RandomBible"$(date +%m-%d-%H-%M-%S)".txt

It would then save it to a text file so I could easily read it in my e-reader. But of course if you want to output it into the terminal, then leave off the final part

I'm thinking of building a couple Biblical poetry sites for my poetry collections to reach different audiences. That is kind of a long term plan, but if you have anything else for me to do ministry-wise, write me a PM and we'll work it out.

I know: HTML, CSS, JS, MySQL, some NodeJS but not a lot, PHP, Java for Web Development, Wordpress, and Linux. You name it, I've probably heard of it even if I don't fully know it. I also make images in Photoshop, operate Dreamweaver, all of that.
