Loving all people doesn't have to include acceptance of their beliefs and lifestyles - true love of people is leading them to the one truth they need to save their souls eternally. And we do that by showing love of God without sacrificing His TRUTH.

:amen: to that!

Neither was the cross, but it BECAME a symbol for something different, so what's the problem with the rainbow symbolizing diversety (which isn't a bad thing) also?
tulc(just a thought) :)
There are many symbols in the world...some represent good and some represent evil and some represent who-knows-what. (ie The Artist Prince who turned his name into a symbol which meant absolutely nothing to me..but obviously meant something to him)

It's not so much the symbol we embrace but what it represents.

If you please tulc...do I really need to spell this out for you?

Regarding diversity....I believe I've already posted my thoughts on that.

;)

I agree with Chris - the rainbow wasn't given by God to glorify diversity... and ESPECIALLY not created to glorify SIN (as diversity includes more than just ethnicity today - but also any sexual orientation and all other religious persuasions).
God doesn't honor or embrace false gods/false religions or perversion and neither should we if we love our Lord.

Loving all people doesn't have to include acceptance of their beliefs and lifestyles - true love of people is leading them to the one truth they need to save their souls eternally. And we do that by showing love of God without sacrificing His TRUTH.
Loving is a sin? What a strange concept?

Personally I'd say to just let them get over it. Make sure they know that God used to rainbow in His covenant with us, and that by giving up on the rainbow because of what someone said it stands for is only giving more power to the idea that it supports homosexuality.

Loving is a sin? What a strange concept?

I did not see anything in Nadiine's post that even remotely suggested love was a sin....

I would like to address a certain sin though and that would be specifically:

Exodus 20:4 You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

Which has many applications but the one I would most consider regarding embracing diversity is:

When we "carve" God into our own image of Him...we are breaking this commandment.

God is who He is... not who each person wants Him to be.

v5 you shall not bow down to them not to serve them. For I, the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

v6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments

God is Authority, Creator, Eternal, Faithful, Good, Gracious, Holy, Jealous, Judicial, Loving, Majestic, Merciful, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Patient, Perfect, Provident, Righteous, Sovereign, Wise and He is also a God of Wrath...

I'm sure I could go on....but the point is...to pick and choose the character of God that best suits what we want God to be is carving out our own image of Him.

God wants us to know who He is; what is pleasing to Him and what is not pleasing to Him...He tells us these things in His Word and by His Holy Spirit.

So to embrace the things God hates...well... is not showing Him a whole lot of love.

To let the people we're supposed to love remain in sin...not showing them the need for the truth and the Savior...that's not showing them a whole lot of love either.

So while many worry about what may be offensive to certain people how about we be more concerned with what is offensive to God...

just a suggestion.

well...yes and no, The reality is God is a lot tougher then people are (IMHO) and is well able to show people what He likes and doesn't like, I think His mercy and His patience are much broader then some of us have been led to believe. :)
tulc(again that's just me, that and $5 will get you a pretty good cup of coffee) ;)

I personally praise God for His grace and mercy and patience each and every day....because I know how deep my sin is and there is NOTHING I can do in myself that will ever be righteous.

It is an awesome thing that we have Jesus Christ, our Kinsman Redeemer, because based on what I understand regarding Holy God and sinful me.....I shudder to think where I would be and where I would spend eternity without Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

Where would I be if I stop growing in the Spirit? Where would I be if I let the things of the world over-shadow the things of God?

All that being said...to me...how do I show my love and respect for Him and appreciation of His gift? God tells us plainly by keeping His commandments. I can only do this by staying in His word and allowing His Holy Spirit to mold and shape me to conform and transform me into His image...not Him into mine.

We love Him and share His word (thus sharing His love). It's the very least I can do for such an awesome, gracious and merciful God.

That and nuttin' in your pockets will get you a relationship with God and a ticket to Heaven.

;)

Yeah I don't know why gay people stole God's rainbow and use it as their symbol but I think God wants His rainbow back. I haven't seen a rainbow in the sky in a long, long time.

Oh dear. Must mean God forgot his promise and is going to flood the earth again soon.

Well even the word 'gay' was taken over to mean homosexual when it originally meant "happy". We've submitted to that change.

If gays have taken over a symbol, then you need to be aware that when strangers do see you, they will probly think you support homosexuality or are gay yourself.
That's just the basic truth.
Unless you want to wear a tshirt that says "I'm not gay" lol or "my rainbow is God's creation" :sorry: :holy:

That's what others may think, so it's up to you & what's more important. (for me, I'd skip wearing it so as not to give indirect support of any kind).
I totally agree. We let groups (not just gay people) hijack simply innocent terms. I have two young daughters who rejoice at the sight of God's heavenly art work after a life-bringing rain. Everytime they see a rainbow, we all discuss how lucky we are to have God's promises. I will not allow any group to take that away. If anyoen else chooses to allow that; that is their choice.

How on earth is a gay pride flag "taking away" God's promises?

Does every purchase of a box of Lucky Charms somehow lessen your faith in God as well?

Can't it mean both? I don't see how LGBT people celebrating their differances did anything to our faith. God made us all eaqul. I think celenbrating this makes god's creations even more beautiful.

in much of the new age movement, the rainbow has been adopted as something else. so here is a quick one. In much of the new age movement lucifer and satan are not seen as one and the same person.

lucifer is seen as the overlord, the angel of light.

and in the circles of new age the rainbow, is called the anthakarana, the bridge to the overlord.

This should put a new slant on the thread for a short while

I belong to a group called....The Rainbow Project.....affectionately just known as "Rainbow"......it's a group for those who suffer from mental illness and their supporters and carers. For us the rainbow symbolises new hope for the future and a new beginning out of our mental illness. I I think the rainbow can be a symbol of many things for many people.

Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world!:amen:

The rainbow is ours they (the world) can trash it all they want, but we know better and we are victorious. Wear the colors proudly because we know what the meaning of them are.

Now for those who just tuned in..........the rainbow is an outer expression of an inner impression. God will not be put asunder.....yehaw!
