  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I hope so. :)

But my feelings are that shared by Orthodox Jews (Scriptural) that Israel should only be built during the time of the Messiah.

They also believe that Jews in general have never settled and have always been unsettled in terms of homeland.

History shows that the Jews have been expelled from nearly every single country they have lived in for almost over 2000 years.

What makes one think that this time it's going to be any different from the last time?

It seems as if the whole of Jewry has settled in one place. Perhaps a final conflict? Only G-d knows. But, as I said, some Rabbis actually believe that the same fate awaits the Jews as before. In other words, Israel is built for destruction according to them. Also, that the leaders of that state are predominantly secularists, which, again, is not in accord to the Divine Will or Prophecy.

A lot people are perhaps just becoming a little excited (and deluded) in the process in believing that the state is ready!?

I believe this to be false.

So I can understand why they berate over the state.

Me too! But our hope is pointless, it is in the Almighty's hands

Most of us do not believe that....only a small segment of Orthodox
hold that opinion.
They also believe that Jews in general have never settled and have always been unsettled in terms of homeland.
True until 1948.
History shows that the Jews have been expelled from nearly every single country they have lived in for almost over 2000 years.
Also true, due to raging anti-semitism.
What makes one think that this time it's going to be any different from the last time?
Because the time of moshiach is coming close.

But, as I said, some Rabbis actually believe that the same fate awaits the Jews as before. In other words, Israel is built for destruction according to them.
"Some" is right....I have never heard a
rabbi say this. Eretz Yisrael has been re-established as part of the
plan of the coming of the messiah.
Also, that the leaders of that state are predominantly secularists, which, again, is not in accord to the Divine Will or Prophecy.
Yes, but
this is a first step towards the return of Israel to Torah

You might be thinking of these guys in your comments. They are a minority, to be sure, but then again, there are some very vocal Orthodox minority groups in Israel who say the exact opposite, to the point of causing a lot of grief for many. Most Israeli Jews are trapped in the middle and held captive by extremes from every side. I'm with them.

All I know is every time my foot steps on Israeli Land I know I am home. It may not be my physical home at this time, but it is indeed my Homeland!

I think we all have that "homeland" feeling when it comes to Israel- but I don't like the politicians running the place at present, so I don't have any desire to live there. Well, not this week anyway.

I don't like how politicians all over the world run the place but I must live somewhere. If given a choice I would rather live somewhere where I can at least speak the name of G~d and not have everyone scoff at me and tell me He doesn't even exist. I would rather live somewhere where I can continue the traditions of my ancestors without having to explain my every choice.

From the things you've been saying lately...I have to wonder whereabouts you abide. Must be a tough area. Gaza? Iran? Lebanon? Syria? You have an Israeli flag, so do you experience persecution in Israel or something? If you find it tough where you are- move to the US, or some other Western country like Aust, Canada or NZ. It's easy to be Jewish in those places and they have nicer weather and less bombs landing than Israel. People pretty much leave you be. :) (But it's still not home, sadly- but it is safe and prosperous)

the time is fast approaching, nay is already here, when safety and prosperity are poor values for determining location....or voting

Only a fool would determine their vote or living place based on those two things alone.

in popular American politics they seem to be both what the majority vote and with which the politicians bait their campaigns.... of course in this current world of relativism everyone gets to define the terms for themselves, thus giving the politicians plenty of wiggle room and grist.

I am Haredi, ultra Orthodox, and I absolutely disagree with this! very few, very very few, Orthodox Jews hold the position you describe.

although i am admittidly timid about the idea of more messianics in Israel, I have to give a  to the sentiments.

to me it comes down to this. For those of us who are frum, we are supposed to fulfill every mitzvah it is within our station to fulfill. t here are very specific mitzvos that can only be fulfilled in Eretz HaKodesh. So every Jew who can should live there.

Of course for some of us it is as of yet impossible.

Oh well, Moshiach will come soon and then all of us jews will be home where we belong.
