Sorry for the delay, folks. I don't know what is causing the hold-up. I'll see what I can find out.
It seems that you are wringing your hands over the chance to debate me on something...anything. Let me make it clear that I'm not going to be debating, just for the sake of debating. There are many others who will have the opportunity for debate.......mark kennedy said:So TheBear are you interested in having the first debate when it's finally up and running? I know I am.

IOW, if a specific talking point motivates me to debate, I'll debate. If not, I'll let others have at it, and just read the debate thread.![]()
IMO...vossler said:Who are you going to debate?
Yourselves?
I wouldn't think so, personally being one that leans that way.Hasn't there been a complaint that there aren't any YECs here?
Do you think YECs will want to debate?
That's not how it works, Mark.mark kennedy said:Don't keep me in suspense, tell me what you think should be debated in this proposed special sub-forum.

A formal debate between two members, is something that develops from an ongoing discussion, in a regular thread.
In the course of discussion, members A and B disagree on a particular point in the discussion. One of them formally invites the other to a debate on that point. If the other is interested, a formal debate ensues.
Again, a formal debate area is not a brand new concept to CF. The reason for a formal debate area in this forum, is no different than the formal debate areas in GA and in Politics. Also, in the C&E forum, you are another supporter of this idea. It is more appropriate for the staff of this forum, to take it from here. Don't worry. I'm on it. I PM'd Deamiter yesterday.mark kennedy said:Yes I know, I have had three such debates and enjoyed them very much. I am still wondering if there is some reason that the formal debate forum is inadequet. I don't happen to like it because it is poorly moderated. Threads that don't belong there are moved but the rules are optional. I would be in favor of a special formal debate forum if there were some clear guidelines for a formal debate.
For me to actually approach the senior staff or Erwin I would have to show them why this is important. Just because some people like the idea doesn't really go over to well. I think if we could show them a formal debate that is unique and indepth, covering specific issues, they might consider it. Just creating a subforum for the sake of having it does not sound like something I could stand behind.
Grace and peace,
Mark
