It's one thing when your country is affluent and has more than enough money to spread around. It's another thing entirely when your own citizens can't buy groceries because of inflation and your national economy is one disaster away from total catastrophe.

We are not taking care of our own. Vets on the streets. Thousands committing suicide. To the tune of over 8000 a year.
Many are homeless.
22 veterans commit suicide every day. Every. Day.

I was nearly one of them, once. Thank God for the V.A.

As soon as anyone crosses the boarder they become " our own".
