  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We also need to be baptized in order to receive the grace of God.

Ephes. 4:5
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

We are told there is only one baptism. We are baptised in water, we are baptised in the Holy Spirit. Yet the Bible says they are one.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."[/color]

But obviously they are not. What makes you think you are saved?

I was concerned about that passage at one time. That one and the one that talks about taking communion. We are told that we are to do the same works Jesus did:

Matthew 4:23
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

So what did Jesus do? He went about teaching, preaching & healing all manner of sickness & disease among the people. Now what does the passage you mentioned talk about? People who say they prophesy, cast out devil and do wonderful works.

We have to be careful, because the Bible does says:

1 Thes. 5:19-20
Do not quench the Spirit. [20] Do not despise prophecies.

We can not dispise prophecy, but we must make sure that is is of the Holy Spirit.

We are NOT saved because we FEEL like we are saved. Although Christians experience Spiritual highs and lows and emotional feelings connected to their experiences and relationships with other Christians and with Christ, we are NOT saved because we FEEL we are saved.

We are not saved because our Mother or our parents are saved, anymore than we are a hamburger because our Mother works at McDonalds. Every individual is responsible for his/her own actions and we are not saved by proxy.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

ALL means EVERYONE! We shall all give an account of ourselves individually.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We are NOT saved because we are born in a Christian nation. One confused individual said he was a Christian because he was born in America and America is a Christian nation. He also said he was Agnostic, because he did not believe anyone could ever be 100% sure of anything, and further he was an Atheisit because he believed that the evidence seemed to lean that way. Therefore said he, he was a Christian Agnostic Atheist. Regretably many who call themselves Christians seem to be as confused as this one.

We are Not saved because we have "always been saved". We are NOT simply born saved, though we are certainly given protection untill we attain the age of accountability. We are NOT saved because we intuitively know we are saved or because we were saved in a "previous life", since no such like exists.

We are NOT saved because we "try to live a good life", and we do good things for the Lady down the street, and are kind to dogs. We are not saved because we have a Kind heart.

We are Not saved because we belong to a particular denomination and we have been baptized.

We are saved because of the Grace of God, through Faith in the finished work of Jesus. We are saved because the Holy Spirit has drawn us to the realization that we are lost and has convicted us of sin and has pointed the way for us by pointing us to Jesus. We are saved because this resulted in repentence or a change of mind and heart and we have made a conscious informed decision to accept Jesus as our personal Saviour, as set forth in so many Scriptures, a few of which I will include here.

John 3:16-18, John 5:24, John 1:12, Acts 16:31, Roman 10:9-13

And we can know because of Scriptures like I John 3:14, Romans 8:16, Romans 5:5, Romans 7:15, John 5:24, Acts 16:31.

I urge anyone to look these up and see what they say to you. There are at least 101 Scripture that tell us how we can be sure we are saved.

It is surely important that we are saved and that we know WHY we are saved, and how.

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

very well done

should go over to questions about christianity about Baptism neccary to be saved

We are not saved by good works but we are saved by faith.

Our faith is too weak.

It is Jesus' faith that weve come to rely on.

If we truly accept Jesus as our savior SINCERELY the deal is done.

How can we know if we are sincere about our new faith?

Good works should always come after Faith...always.

Yes, Rome was not built in a day...but Rome can be built in a day.

Pray alot...

Again, I agree that our faith is necessary to be saved, but if you read the Bible, that is not the only condition that is placed upon our salvation. There is no way that we can earn our salvation, but that does not mean that there aren't conditions in order to receive that salvation.

Would you say that your believing in Christ merits your salvation? Of course not, that would be absurd! But belief is something that has to happen before you can receive God's grace - BELIEF IS A CONDITION! So if you think that you have to believe before you can be saved, then your salvation is not unconditional! Also, believing in Christ is a WORK! John 6:29 clearly shows that belief is a work - it is a work of God in us. Baptism is also a work of God, read Colossian 2:12-

having been buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

without being baptized we are not connected with the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ, through the working of God. Baptism is a condition of our salvation. :)
