Not surprisingly, the Bush administration ran their torture regime the same way the ran their choise of war in Iraq, with incredible incompetence, seriously lacking any of that actual intelligence.
That is offensive.

Except when it is utilising waterboarding, which is torture. The US does not engage in or advocate torture.
Except when it is utilising waterboarding, which is torture.
Or is this going to end in another of your semantic tapdances, like "someone who didn't commit a crime isn't innocent because he's found guilty by a court"
So is torture.
Agreed. No one seems to be able to answer the point I made that giving birth is much more like torture than water boarding. To my generation having to go without your iPod for a week is torture.Spare the waterboard and spoil the terrorist I say...
Amazing what some people consider "torture" these days - and worse, that some think we "stoop" to the level of terrorists and their titanic barbarism by giving them little more than a spanking so we might save American lives.
What ever happened to our sense of perspective?

I'm not sure a child abuse analogy works in your favor here.

Yup, we've raised several generations of spoiled rotten brats who think the world owes them everything, peace, love, joy, financial security, health security, physical security, mental security, social security, ethical security, philosophical security... the mixture of being spoiled rotten with such tremendous fears and insecurities has bred several generations of quislings so totally unable to fend for themselves and so like infants that they cry at every opportunity until someone satisfies their every whim.Agreed. Some people think that disciplining a child is the same thing as beating them to a pulp. Best not to chase them down the rabbit holeChild abuse? Did I miss something here?
The self-serving naivete is appalling...Just think of all the angst that the bleeding hearts have experienced over the fact that Khalid Sheik Mohamed had to undergo the same procedure than tens of thousands of American soldiers have been subjected to as part of their training.
Well put. When they were kids we could say "They're spoiled kids. The real world will send them a wakeup call and they'll grow out of it". When they're adult age, it's just despicable.Yup, we've raised several generations of spoiled rotten brats who think the world owes them everything, peace, love, joy, financial security, health security, physical security, mental security, social security, ethical security, philosophical security... the mixture of being spoiled rotten with such tremendous fears and insecurities has bred several generations of quislings so totally unable to fend for themselves and so like infants that they cry at every opportunity until someone satisfies their every whim.
Frankly, it's sickening to see people who've stooped so low that their every fear is embodied in those who stand taller than they do.
I'm compelled to point out we live in a society where you can choose to be pregnant but then again that's probably a can of worms not worth opening (too late! lol)
Also, there's the issue of it being a force of nature.
"Spare the rod, spoil the child" does not equate with child abuse. Not in its modern context anyway.Spare the _____, spoil the _____
No, and they have to endure far worse than waterboarding anyway - one stint through the gas house might change a few people's minds about what constitutes "torture."The waterboarding procedure , as used by the US, is not torture. The US does not torture its own soldiers.
They'd sue the government for psychological abuse, emotional abuse, and withholding affectionMy gosh, I doubt few, if any of those who think waterboarding is torture would survive the first week of boot camp (all that yelling and screaming...)
So what then, we should ask the terrorists' permission first? You make it sound like this is a bunch of kids playing cops & robbers. "OK. You lay down on the bench, and I'll shine the flashlight on you while saying "Veee have vaaaays of maaaking you talk". Then Bobby will hit you with the nerf sword".
