Was Satan once a good guy?

I believe that...

  • Satan was a holy angel in the beginning.

  • "He [Satan] was a murderer from the beginning."

TSBHOD... youre young. You'll have kids one day. Tell me what kind of a Father has a Child so that he may bring him up to do Evil? The answer... an evil father. God is not evil. Think LOGICALLY here.

God says that he will use even the worst of things for his Glory. This is the case with Satan. God is turning a bad event to his glory, thus why he allows the Devil to tempt us.

God Bless, metal.
I do not think that God created Satan to make things hard for us. I do think that Satan has a purpose as an evil being. Since angels cannot receive forgiveness, God is not trying to give Satan a chance to be redeemed -- I think we can all agree on that. So, the questions is, if God didn't want a bad Satan around, but wanted a good Lucifer instead, then why didn't He just blast Satan once he fell? Why does God let Satan keep troubling us if that is not in His plan?

My belief is that God wanted to create Satan as a being that does a work of purification on us by causing us to suffer. God knew that we would sin, and so made provision for us to be purified.

(Isaiah 54:16 ESV) Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy;

You may disagree with me, but I am not being crazy here.

I believe this, and I believe it applies to many topics.

Yes, an awful lot of topics discussed seem to be esoteric or tangenital. However, if people have questions that cause them concern and may lead to doubt then understanding amd learning are required.

For example, as some posters assert there is an argument that if God made Satan evil (ie Satan and Lucifer are one in the same), then God intended to inflict evil on his creation before man choose to eat of the tree of knowledge. This belief leads to the possable conclusion in a capricious God (who by extension lied about his love for us). This will lead to doubt.

There are a number of valid answers to this postulate (foreknowledge, the rebellion etc.) - the point is - the question asked, deserves an answer.:priest:

I think that has some truth to it. I think God does want to test us. He gave us free will and he gave us a choice through His Son.

He wants to see who will use their free will wisely by choosing His Son over Lucifer and sin.

Does that mean God wanted us to sin?

No. But God did want to purify us. Regardless of whether you believe that God created Satan evil, you must recognize that Satan is evil now, and he is causing trouble -- trouble that God does not have to allow. Satan is spoken of in Revelation as being "bound," and God will deal with him at the judgment. But do not think that God is incapable of dealing with Satan right now. In the story of Job, for example, Satan could do nothing to Job until given permission by God.

So whether you believe that Satan was created for a purpose or not, now that he is evil, God uses him. God could have kept Satan away from Job, but God allowed Satan to do some purifying work there. It may not make sense to us why God would allow that, but that is another matter.
