You know what could be nice? Having your parents, and his parents, kind of taking the part of modern-day bridesmaids and groomsmen... let me see if I can describe it how I'm seeing it in my head...

You and husband-to-be approach from opposite sides... him accompanied by his parents, you accompanied by yours (one on each side?). Then when you get to the 'altar' area, they either stand with you through the service or sit down.

Only an idea... feel free to ignore it :)

I was walked down the aisle by my Dad. To me it was symbolic of him being #1 man in my life, and passing the role to my husband. It had nothing to do with me being a possession to given away. I am such a Daddy's girl. Even if I were against it, I would have conceded my view since my parents paid for my wedding.
