I hate to be that guy, but...

I think to the right of the ship, closer to the cliff, you can see the true and false horizons more distinctly.

Still a fantastic photo, but it doesn't appear to be an atmospheric mirage.

All I need now is to watch an episode of Star Blazers, followed up by Monkey Magic and Dr Who. And people still wonder why the 80's was so awesome!
