It means:

To abide in and serve Him - much like a waiter/waitress might "wait" on or serve someone at a table. As the customers express their desires, the person who waits on them fulfills their orders and requests. God empowers us as we "wait" on Him; He renews our strength as we serve Him.

What is meant by "waiting on the Lord"?
Does this refer to specific actions, like waiting to witness to others until we are ready, or does it refer to just learning and praying before anything else?

David's translation with the word "trusting" is what I feel it means. I think that it means to not grow impatient when it seems that God isn't working in our life. He works on His own time, not on ours or any one else's. If we really believe in God, we must trust what He says in His letter to us is true. It is His promise to us and we may see hardly any evidence of it in this world because it is the physical world and not the spiritual world.

I've encountered a few apostates who say they stopped believing when it seemed that God wasn't acting in their life. They got tired of the setbacks and the hardships. I often wondered if they were exposed to a humanity-centered faith and that this is what brought about their "disbelief" because in reality, what they were being fed couldn't hold water anyway.
