Vulgar language, is it a sin?

I would argue that it is how language is used that is sinful, not the actual language.

For example I can very eloquently curse you and I can also use vulgar language to tell you of Christ's love. Which is the sin?

Vulgar talking always makes it sound worse.

No,

Speaking in one of the vulgar tongues is not sinful. Translating Scripture into one of the vulgar tongues on the other hand is cause for burning someone at the stake.

Just a little lesson on how words change and the history of the Christian Church. Those desiring to learn a bit more might want to read Foxxes Book of Martyrs.

Vulgar talking always makes it sound worse.

That however is a subjective observation. Just because you believe it makes it sound worse doesn't mean that others believe it to be so.

As I asked which is God's will, that I eloquently curse you or that I use vulgarity to share the Gospel? I am capable of doing both, I am also capable of using vulgarity to curse you and to eloquently present the Gospel. However not everyone possesses these skills.

Did you know that "cretin" used to be "Christian" and "silly" meant "saintly"?

"Swearing" starts as an attempt to shock and offend, and by doing so, dominate. Children adopt it by imitation, in an attempt to show they are grown up and cannot be controlled. Soldiers are encouraged in their training to adopt it as part of the process of systematic brutalization, necessary to turn ordinary children into cold-blooded killers.

Then it becomes a careless, thoughtless habit.
