I did it in living in OR, where its been mail only for ages. Seems to work well. What do you think about voting by mail?
a fixed location for what? Some states only have mail in voting. A fixed location is just as reliable as an ID.
Then perhaps you should study the issue a bit. Republicans have lost cases in the past when they tried this.I fail to see how the restrictions are restricting people who have the right to vote.
In other words if I am expecting the ballot and it does not show up I would know about it, BUT if I vote and send the ballot back I would have no way of knowing if it was intercepted on the way to the polling place or post office. What? I am sorry but that makes no sense.
It's factual and I was agreeing with your post.
Republicans typically are more independent and, therefore, divided on public policy. Democrats, at least in the legislatures, vote in lock step and are more reluctant to criticize each other. It's not a secret that the once-famous Blue Dog Democrats are history now, for instance.
No, they don't. You just wrote a long post in which you pointed out all the prominent Republicans who have recently broken ranks with the rest of the Republicans.
And I think I heard just a few days ago that another outfit, sort of like the "NeverTrump" effort, is being readied to start a new organization or news service in order to oppose the views of the majority of their own party's leaders.
When they tried what? Methods of ensuring only qualified people vote. Then perhaps you should study the issue a bit. Republicans have lost cases in the past when they tried this.
so two questions What do they do about homeless people? What do they do about people who move and do not let anyone know?A residence.
How the heck is it going to be intercepted? And in vote by mail states you can check to see if your ballot was received. Though very few do that.In other words if I am expecting the ballot and it does not show up I would know about it, BUT if I vote and send the ballot back I would have no way of knowing if it was intercepted on the way to the polling place or post office.
You mean when they tried to stop minorities and poor from voting. And yes, such laws were found to be unconstitutional. When they tried what? Methods of ensuring only qualified people vote.
As a disabled American, I've voted by mail for the past decade. How is it not safe?
but how are these laws doing that? Anyone can vote as long as he/she can prove they have the right to do so that is that they are at 18 years old, in most states not in state custody, have not been found mentally unfit by the court and are a citizen. You mean when they tried to stop minorities and poor from voting. And yes, such laws were found to be unconstitutional.
Write in ballots are identified the same way hand cast ballots are in all the states i have lived in the last 40 years, signatures. That said, there is a cost to voter id's in that it takes time to get one and thus the no poll tax laws generally prohibit them.
thank you just like in GA where again even allows expired state IDs to be used and I KNOW that because I have one.The proposal in every state that I have read about has been for FREE ID's to people who need them and say they cannot afford to pay anything. The Democratic members of the legislature nevertheless responded by refusing the proposal.

And your source for this is . . . ?The proposal in every state that I have read about has been for FREE ID's to people who need them and say they cannot afford to pay anything. The Democratic members of the legislature nevertheless responded by refusing the proposal.

Wait. . . . you're in Georgia? How did you not know about your state's earlier failure when it came to voter ID?thank you just like in GA where again even allows expired state IDs to be used and I KNOW that because I have one.
Everybody needs a photocopier at home. many people do not have state issued IDs or even copies of social security cards which are not adequate for voter registration etc.How hard is it to provide an ID? I do not care who you are if you can provide an ID that says you are who you say you are and are qualified to vote at least 18, not in prison a citizen then by all means vote.
Requiring an ID that costs money to procure is considered a violation of the 24th amendment or at least it has been so held since its ratification in 1964.but those laws do not stop legal voters from voting UNLESS they are too lazy to get an ID.
