  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The SAVE America Act passed by a 218–213 vote on Feb 11, 2026. It now moves to the Senate.
The bill would require voter ID in elections as early as this November.
All Republicans present voted for it; one Democrat, voted for it.

Most drivers' licenses are now Real ID drivers' licenses, and proof of birth, residency, any name changes, marriage related or legal, Social Security #'s, have been thoroughly annotated. We just did this a few months ago, and some of my family members had to get their BC's from NY. That involved sending the request, a $10 money order (no checks, debits, etc.) and an SASE. They gave them temporary Real ID's so that we could fly to my brother's funeral, but said their licenses would be suspended if we didn't submit the BC's in 10 days. A lot of red tape that doesn't need to be repeated.
I would exoect that non-citizen drivers' licenses, in those states which issue them, look different from standard drivers' licenses. Perhaps orientation (which some states do to isolate drivers under 21) or a slightly different color.
Women who have changed their names through marriage will be most likely to not get it all done in time---and since women are more likely to vote Democratic, the SAVE Act has "misogyny" written all over it.

I voted "No" because the SAVE act isn't about displaying ID to vote; it's about displaying evidence of US citizenship. While I favor restricting voting to US citizens only, that very well may fall to the states. Note that the US Constitution doesn't state how states must chose electors to the Electoral College, and in the very first presidential elections, the states appointed electors. I'm not sure about the constitutionality of the SAVE act.
