The Russians are coming.

The Russians are coming.

Yippee

The Russians are coming.

LOL
LOL!

Reminds me of the visit to the ROCOR cathedral on Monday. Some of the Russians there had this look that said "if you look at me wrong way, I stab you!" but they were happy so many people were there.

I voted for number 1. I didn't like the second one as it has no crosses on it. I felt the third one's floral background was distracted.

Number 1 looks more like an Orthodox Bible to me.

Does anyone know if the psalms have been broken down into our kathisma's? I never understood why they didn't do that when it came out before.

Don't worry, I'm sure Nelson considers the Orthodox to be too much of a "niche market" , to roll out ALL the different editions!;)

Tough choices.

But ... I'm sure there will be other covers coming soon, e.g.:

The Women's Orthodox Study Bible
The Desert Fathers Orthodox Study Bible
The Convert's Orthodox Study Bible
The Church History Orthodox Study Bible
The Orthodox Study Bible - Patristics Edition
The Daily Orthodox Study Bible
The One-Minute Orthodox Study Bible
The Daily Prayers Orthodox Study Bible
The Old Calendarist Orthodox Study Bible
The SCOBA Orthodox Study Bible
The OCA Orthodox Study Bible (featuring Russian Saints)
The GOC Orthodox Study Bible (featuring Greek Saints)
The Ecumenical Orthodox Study Bible (with the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical Books according to the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Coptic Churches)
The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Study Bible
etc.

I don't care for the byline, it seems to betray a mission of toning down Orthodoxy for the modern world. Some evidence of this was possibly seen in the NT version. When I see commentary in the OT pointing to the Ever Virginity of the Theotokos (as is read on her Feast days) and her being the Ark of the NC, I'll feel better.

I voted 1 but I really liked 2 as well. I like the THE better in 2 because you can barely see it in 1... ok, back to the graphics geek vault. And 2 seems like it has a bit too much going on and 3 was just plain boring.

#1 is the most visually appealing to me. It is centered, focused and uses rich colors that attract my eye. #2 is ok, and far better than #3 but it lacks the border which draws my eye in to the icon in the middle. #3 is just a mess and unappealing to me.

I kind of got that vibe myself. That's why I preferred #3 to #1. #1 kind of looks cloying to me; #3 looks bold and rock-solid and eternal. :D

Since #1 looks like it will wind up with more votes, I'd like it if they printed copies with both covers. I don't care too much for the color red and its ilk; I much prefer blues, greens, and silvers.

I nearly voted 3, but I liked the boldness and centrality of the icon in 1.

^_^

EDIT: Where does their leather come from? I've debated getting hardcover or leather. I e-mailed them once to ask where it comes from with no response. I'd hate to buy a Bible and always be wondering if the leather came from an evil factory farm or something of the sort.
