These are the questions I answered. The universe I would create (Q1) would be improved (Q2) by having bacon flavored Brussels sprouts and trilobites etc.
I'm with you on the trilobites... if you can throw in ammonites too.

But isn't it enough to have bacon flavoured pigs?

That's simple. Just have humans taste of Brussels sprouts.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Is there something you're not telling us?

How do you know humans don't taste like brussels sprouts in _this_ universe?!

how is this world better than the one I described?

(i dont want to be a god. Thats too much responsibility)
For starters, I like looking at the stars at night. And meteor showers. I also like the idea that I don't have to worry about falling off the edge of the flat world.

If humans tasted like vegetation, then the carnivores would not eat us. :) Panthers have been known to eat humans. Tigers, lions, and polar bears, too. None of them eat brussels sprouts. So if humans had the taste of brussels sprouts, and their smell, the carnivores wouldn't eat us. Simpl deductive logic.

it would wrap around.

I'll put pretty specks on the top to make you happy
there wouldnt be any night to see them though.
I was thinking the light source would be a kind of hyper-northern lights

would hyper-northern lights satisfy your need for pretty lights in the sky

I was also thinking there would be 2 fluids.
one dense as water and the other dense as air
the less dense fluid when placed under extreme pressure would become the denser fluid.
the energy of an incoming comet would be absorbed by this mechanism.
and the atmosphere would be extremely thick to fully protect againt anything falling into it.

I wouldnt make things out of atoms.
the smallest particles in my universe would be cell-sized
and they would be programmable so they could take on whatever properties you needed them to have. ...
people would be 1 inch tall.
imagine being able to lift 50 times your body weight.
First, if the smallest particles were cell sized, you couldn't program them have "whatever properties you needed to have". They couldn't, for instance, have the properties of cells. Why not? Because cells are composed of over 10^24 molecules, all of them composed of atoms even smaller.

So there goes your 1 inch people. The neural connections necessary for the human brain with the smallest particle being "cell-sized" (BTW, is that prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell-sized; you have a range there of 0.5 - 10 um in diameter) could not be fit into a 1 inch tall human. Also, being 1 inch tall has nothing to do with the ability to lift 50 times your body weight. Yes, ants can, but bees can't. It depends on muscles, ligaments, and lever arms of muscles over joints. With the smallest particle being cell sized, you couldn't have the contraction properties of current muscle cells.

You didn't think this thru from the perspective of biochemistry and how life works at the chemical level.

they can have whatever properties you tell the computer to give them.
each one would have the computing power of a small computer so acting as a neuron is simple.
they could also be programmed to act as muscles cells or any other kind of cell.

I have no idea why you think they couldnt.

its just like writing a video game.
the game pieces can any properties and do anything you program it to do.

No offense, but your universe sounds awful. You've removed all variety and beauty. No thanks.

So if God has created such a world then you think he screwed up

obviously I cant do it justice. I'm only human.
All I can do is suggest the broader features.
I'm sure some super-intelligent super-being could find a way to make it diverse and interesting.

No. You're projecting. You said earlier in this thread that there are many things wrong with this universe, so apparently YOU think God screwed up. Is that the case?

I simply don't think I would choose to live in your computerverse.

Yep. God found wonderful ways to make our universe diverse and interesting. That's why I love living here.

well since our reward is to go and live in heaven
rather than to stay and continue to live as we are
and since we are fallen sinful creatures
then yes I suppose this world isnt the very best possible world

and I am not saying that God screwed up
I am saying that his purpose in creating this universe
evidently wasnt to create the best possible world

The way you have it set up is that these are the smallest particle. The reason computers work and that you can program them is that they are composed of smaller particles. The properties come from a sum of the activities of the smaller particles. In a computer you can't program a single semiconductor to have any property you tell it to. It can only have the properties of "on" or "off". The way you get multiple possible properties is that you have millions of these semiconductors.

So, your particles can't possibly have the computing power of a small computer, anymore than a single atom can do so. Do you see that now?

I know you want to make "magic" things, but if that is what they are -- magic -- then the whole discussion is useless. You are out of the real into something that can't be real.

its just like writing a video game.
the game pieces can any properties and do anything you program it to do.
But they can only do so because they are composed of many smaller things. Each of the game pieces represents thousands of lines of computer code (smaller then the game piece) and the computer code in turn represents millions of semiconductor "bits".

If the game piece is the smallest thing possible, then you couldn't program it.
